Can anybody with a player database determine whether any club has produced players born on every birthdate of the year? (Doesn't matter if there are no February 29 players). If not, who is the closest to achieving this?

I'm going to have a guess at 302 being the answer.

Geelong under Blight were a scoring machine on their day, and interestingly of their top 20 highest scores of all time - 10 of those games were in two seasons - 1989(4) and 1992(6)

Geelong's scoring ability in the first half of '92 was incredible -

R7 - 37.17.239 v Brisbane Bears (HS Record)

Hawthorn has 327 of 365 days covered. But of course there are teams who have had a lot more players than Hawthorn.

It is fairly common to see brothers playing in opposing teams, but how many times have we seen games where one brother's team beats another brother's team by 100 points or more? Thanks to AFL Tables, I have found a few examples:

Round 21 1981 - In their second last match as South Melbourne, the Swans proved no match for the Bombers at Windy Hill, Essendon winning by 111-points. Terry and Neale Daniher played for Essendon, while Tony Daniher was in the South Melbourne team.
Round 6 1985 - Essendon thrashed Carlton by 109-points, Simon Madden playing for the Bombers and Justin Madden for the Blues
Round 17 1986 - Gerard Healy starred for the Sydney Swans in their massive 29.15-189 to 9.11-65 victory over Melbourne at the SCG, younger brother Greg Healy a member of the Demons side trounced by 124-points.
Round 22 2005 - The Brisbane Lions crashed to a horror 139-point loss to St Kilda at Docklands in the final round, with Brett Voss

There must be some more examples of this that I overlooked, especially from the 1990s or in more recent seasons, can anyone name any other games like this?

I was also wondering if there were any rounds where one brother played in a 100-point win and the other a 100-point loss but in different games, as I couldn't find any such examples. I thought I had found one in Round 21 1993 with the Gale brothers when Brendan Gale played in a 121-point loss by Richmond against Melbourne at the MCG, with Fitzroy thumping the Brisbane Bears by 110-points at Princes Park the previous day, but Michael Gale didn't play for the Lions in that game.

Not sure about brothers, but the first time John Kennedy Snr coached North against Hawthorn - for whom his son John jnr was playing - the game was drawn.

Has there been as many as three Irishmen play in a side before? I guess there could be an outside chance of Jim and Brian Stynes and perhaps Sean Wight? But the Cats tomorrow have three from the Emerald Isle playing with Mullin joining O'Connor and Touhy.

I had a look at the 1992 games on AFL Tables, unfortunately Sean Wight was not in the Demons' team in Brian Stynes' only two appearances in the seniors. I was surprised that Brian Stynes only played two games, I had thought he played a dozen or so.

Between Rounds 5 and 11 in 2022, West Coast also lost every game (7 consecutive) by over 40 points.

I can’t see that they measured TOG until 2003.
Leon Davis had goose eggs in the last game before this - Grand Final 2002.

Jono Brown got 1 tackle in his debut game in 2000 - got a free kick but it was called play on advantage so didn't get a disposal. They didn't keep %TOG stats in 2000 but he would probably beat that.

It was a pretty bizarre SANFL round 9 for the Kings Birthday Weekend.

Sturt, which had made a flawless 8-0 start to the season lost its first game for the year by a massive 105-points to Glenelg, the Tigers thrashing the Double Blues 22.18-150 to 6.9-45.

At the other end of the ladder, Norwood which was languishing at the bottom of the table with an 0-8 record finally broke through for its first win, a 23-point victory over South Adelaide. This might not be so remarkable, but Norwood were the 2022 premiers.

At high level football, has there ever been a case of an undefeated team so far into the season being beaten by so much as Sturt were? It might happen early in the season, where an 'April Premier' team goes 3-0 by virtue of an easy draw in the early rounds, only to come crashing back to Earth when they encounter a premiership contender in Round 4 and are given a century thrashing, but I don't recall anything like the Glenelg Sturt game before.

And while premiership hangovers are hardly rare, I don't recall any reigning premier being winless close to halfway through the next season. Does anyone know of any cases like the Redlegs this year?

Flicked over to SEN this morning and caught the quiz with Pickers and Hutchy and the question was, who has spent the most amount of time on the ground for no disposals? Immediate thought was, someone must have read this thread. They gave a hint - he started as a wing man at WCE and then played for the Saints and kicked a lot of goals.

I thought its Fraser Gehrig, and that was the answer and said I have to check this as he debuted before Champion Data started in 1999 and TOG stats have only been around since 2003, so must have been when he was a FF.

So I looked up his career on AFL Tables and it was in 2007 - Rd 18 vs Western Bulldogs recorded 89% - only had 1 contested mark and it was a mark inside 50, so I guess he got a possession, but not a disposal.

Only reason I could think of why he didn't take the kick or give a handball away, was he either injured himself taking the mark and couldn't take the kick or a teammate gave away some sort of free kick to the oppo, after he took the mark and paid it by the umpire, and the umpire took the ball away.

For some reason I remember listening to that on the radio- a teammate gave a free away shortly after the mark so it got reversed. Whateley, David Parkin and Peter Schwab took much mirth from it.

I was curious about what is the shortest period of time a team has taken to completely turn over its senior list.

About the shortest time period I could think of is 6 years in the case of the Brisbane Bears, where after Matthew Campbell retired early in 1993 no original Bears from 1987 remained at the club.

Does anyone know of any other cases like this?

I feel like I read it's happened 4 times, but I can't seem to find that source again.

It has indeed happened 4 times, in two lots of successive years. The grand finalists from 1944 (Fitzroy and Richmond) did not make the finals in 1945, while the 1945 grand finalists (Carlton and South Melbourne) did not make the finals in 1946. Then, the 1961 grand finalists (Hawthorn and Footscray) failed to play finals in 1962, with the grand finalists of that year (Essendon and Carlton) missing the finals in 1963.

West Adelaide were premiers in 2015, but didn't win a game in 2016 until round 12.
They finished last with a 2-16 record.
