A brave face and a brace?
How many times do you reckon we heard that said about Hawkins last season, catempire? And when did they decide to rest him? It's a bit of a worry given a similar situation with Hawkins last year. If asked, I'm sure they'd say "playing isn't going to make it any worse and we are very confident he'll be playing his best football in September."![]()

Fixture is a joke this year. It's either 6 day breaks with travel against a top 8 team or 9 day break against bottom 4.I hate this waiting for the LAST game of the round, coming off the first game of the round last week, crazy scheduling. All this talk of % etc. - this could be a really difficult game and we have issues with some of our key players. Not trying to spoil the atmosphere, but we are not the team that can just turn up and smash a Bulldogs team. Has everyone forgotten our recent form? Have the losses of these top 4 teams given some here a false sense of our predicament?
If SJ is out, it makes it all the more challenging.
Griffen is also battling a back complaint, last week saw vision where he had so much spasm had to be assisted just to stand up.WE don't even know what SJ's back issue is…. Tommahawks we knew it was a disc. This could be anything…
Id rather wait ti hear from the Medicos before calling for rest or reconstruction….
Seemed to play o in the last 1/4 of bombers game however…..
First 3 weren't much chop
Go Catters
If SJ is unfit due to a back injury - bloody hell rest him for the next month and give it a chance to settle down.
Play Lang or JJ so they get some senior experience.
We both know how much chance that is of happening.
What I got from the interview with SJ (after reading that he has not trained, or has barely managed to train, over the past month due to whatever his injury or soreness is,) was that a) he has struggled with a problem for the past month, b) as you said above, he managed to train both sessions during the week and c) he is improving.he also mentioned how sore his body was feeling a month ago but as for any word on any back issue, nothing!
In fact, he said he was able to partake in training sessions all week and felt as good as he has for a while so am not sure if this was just another one of those rumours which finds itself on the internet first and foremost.
Hahaha- yeah, that's about it, bigfarter! Very funny!"We don't risk injured players."
I just had a mental image of Mark Blicavs standing on the field with a javelin sticking out of his back. Cue Chris Scott: "Well, it's not going to get any further lodged in if he plays and we're pretty confident it'll just fall out by finals."
I'm a bigger supporter of Scott than many on this board but this particular aspect of our club is rather galling.
