Whilst agreeing that the AFL have made this the softest Aussie Rules league in the country, and have generally stuffed up what I believe is the spirit of the game, I do not want to see a return to players being taken out with king hits behind the play, if indeed that is what ocurred.

Jesus . . . have you not been paying attention?

Nobody, not even that lying scumbag Barry Kirkwood suggested that.

Of course not, his previous record is not as bad.

Pretty obvious I would have thought.
If you can get away with eye gouging when it's that obvious, how would you ever get a bad record?

Has Baker even been reported for such a low act? I think you'll find the answer is no.

Will the whinging from St Kilda supporters ever end??
When the (W)AFL start making unbiased decisions - we'll stop whinging.

Easy fixed.

No, he is suggesting that this is how Baker usually applies a 'block' to a player trying to get goal-side. I've seen him do the same thing many times.
Funny he hasn't been reported for it since we've established blocking is a 4 week suspension. Bakes must be the luckiset man in football.

Must also be invisible if he's never caught on camera.

Semantics pure Semantics (as if a Stk fan wouyld know what that means anyway) - the facts are that Farmer suffered an injury involving lots of blood and concussion "BEHIND THE PLAY".

No one can defend that - we don't need those sort of things in the game.

God help us - blood spilled on a football field.

Soft nancy boys like you should stick to non-contact sports if you can't handle the sight of blood.

Re: Australian Rules Football Is Dead!!!!!

So what you are saying is that if it is IN PLAY and it is ACCIDENTAL it is OK but if it is BEHIND PLAY and ACCIDENTAL it becomes INTENTIONAL / PLANNED / CONTRIVED / ON PURPOSE :confused:

Nice one knuckles :thumbsu:

Hey Hanis, suggest you read the link to gain some understanding of the rules. I'd also sugest you print a copy and send it into Phillip Priest QC c/o St kilda football club, he obviously hasn't read it either or he's just plain stupid. Otherwise why would he get Baker to admit to a reportable offence in his testomony.

He hasn't been reported for it coz his head doesn't usually smash back into his opponents face.

This time it did, 50m off the ball.

Still stuck on the same point after 80 pages!

I would suggest you get a life :(

agree - i'd much rather blood be spilled on a footy field than Nick Reiwoldt's or Maxi "pad" Hudghton's tears - as per usual at st kilda matches:p

he's gone for 7 - move on - seriously not worth nearly 1,200 posts!!

Again Semantics - the Leigh Matthews reference is irrelevant - he did the crime he did the time - my original point still stands toughness is not behind the play incidents it is commitment to the contest for the ball or two simple words -

GLENN ARCHER

who does not have to go around thumping blokes behind the play to show he is tough. (and before you start - yes he has been suspended - but not for belting blokes behind play).

Shall I continue with a list of behind the play incidents that have not and should not be tolerated - OK

1965 Prelim - Duncan Wright Coll - knocking out Peter Somerville of Essendon 100 metres behind the play.

Brodie Holland wacking Paul Williams behind the play (and being suspended a bout 3 or 4 years ago). I could go on and on.

Do you seriously want behind the play thuggery of any sort in the game - again you cannot defend the indefensible.

Oh and by the way open the other eye and you will see I do not hide who I support.

He hasn't been reported for it coz his head doesn't usually smash into the back of his opponents face.

This time it did, 50m off the ball.

Ummm . . . didn't you say they showed footage of Baker blocking and throwing his head back?

If so, why wasn't he reported then? Does no blood = no report?

And if he does it all the time, like you suggested, explain why he hasn't been reported for it before? Especially if it was on camera?

I'll tell you why, because we have never in the history of this game, EVER reported someone for blocking. They did so in this case because it was a knee jerk reaction to an injury and the AFL being embarrassed that they still don't film the entire ground (incompetence).

BTW, if you don't like the subject, why on earth are you still in this thread?

Again, I'll answer that, you're a typical low-life Carlton supporter that delights in others misfortune because all you're left with is to cheer your team to yet another loss.

So accidental head clashes are now considered to be thuggery

Would you expect any different from a Hawthorn supporter?

A smashed nose might cost a player weeks of modelling work.

7 weeks and a failed appeal would suggest otherwise wouldn't it Hanis?

has done the crime over and over and over again - and the tribunal is sick of it - hear hear

his "talent" agaist murphy and russell earlier in the year was pathetic from the "tough man" baker - targeting kids 20 and under -

karma baby - never taste so sweet!:p

Yes. Whats so hard to understand? You do something that causes an injury and you get held responsible. You dont and no problem

Re: Australian Rules Football Is Dead!!!!!

Just what I thought. No comeback. Over a thousand posts and its just starting to sink in. How slow are some of you. He's GUILTY under the current rules and you just can't accept it.

Considering the basis of your argument was built around your use of the word suggest I thought it was a great comeback

That said I can see how living in Sydney would suck any humourous elements right out of your soul :(

I hope your parents are not too worried :)

Never said I didn't like it, I've been well entertained over the last few days thanks :thumbsu:. Just thought you might have accepted why the decision has been made, even though you don't agree with it.

hahaha, thats it Jeffrey, get it all out mate :)

Unless of course you play for the Purple Rabble.

Maybe Baker should have lied to the tribunal and said Farmer poked fun at him and hurt his feelings?

I presume you'd then feel sorry for Baker? I mean fancy that, someone saying something mean to you on the field.
