Now i know youre probably thinking What is this guy on but i keep thinking about him resting in the square. Now heres how it would work.

MJ (johnno) would play Full Back and take the best Forward and be a part time ruck.

Dodd would play Full forward or in the square and when johnno plays Ruck he moves to FB and sandi rests in the square.

Kepples would be another part time rucker.

We all know he doesnt have the skill to play FB permantley and take the kick outs.

that is an interesting take. in my honest opinion, dodd is now the worst player on our list (just my opinion)... he can punch the ball when in the backline, but thats about it, his decision making is deplorable... i can only see two options for him, one is to play him as a midfield tagger, keep him out of the backline because he simply costs us too much..... or as you say place him in the forward line, he is tall enough and fit enough to be a defensive forward. preferrably i would have him playing for the sharks full time then delisted at the end of the year. however he might improve if given the defensive forward role.... would spell the end for thornton though, who i think did a good job in that role...... whatever happens though, i dont think we can have him in the backline, just makes way too many skill/decision errors

If Dodds our worst doesnt say much about the thirty odd who finished behind him in the 09 bf:rolleyes:

Sounds like spreading p00 around to make the smell not so bad to me, the move of Taz invovled a player with talent.

McPhee will be interesting if he really stays in the middle.

yep.... pretty much sums up our year though doesnt it. i mean dod, may be physically more capable than hall and walters etc, what i meant was that of the regular players or "senior" players, dodd is the worst. id have murphy and thornton ahead of him, id even start to give obrien more of a shot, to see what he can do rather than play dodd. the fact he was top 10 best and fairest is the most unbelieveable result in the history of all sport (;) not talking it up at all)... i reckon it says a lot more about our injuries and the crabs that we just delisted than it does about dodds ability to play

Dodd's position in the B&F had a lot to do with him playing a lot of games, the number of kids in the squad, and the number of injuries sustained by senior players.

Can't see him cementing a spot in the 22 this year but will play 5-10 games barring injury.

So he's the same as Thornton but has the ability to punch the ball. That makes him better than Scottie.

Or the other option is just keep things the same but replace him with Mcphee:)

thornton in the backline is the same as dodd in the backlin, but put thornton in the forwardline, thornton has some value.... i think it is very close between dodd/thornton/murphy for the tag of most useless, dodd gets my vote because he costs us endless goals with his decision making and skill errors. and he always acts like a tough guy on the field when really he is a joke

If Dodd is our FF this year then lock us in for the spoon, no doubt about it

To me Dodd is the Key Performance Indicator of the whole side.
When the going gets tough it seems that it is Dodd who is first to have a brain snap or drop his head.

And clinks I am sure that they are keen to get him back to full fitness. We want all of our squad at full fitness. Including our depth players.

Haha yeah you're right. The problem there is that he isn't clever enough, there was a 50/50 chance on which way the free kick would go with Josh Carr but it is always Dodd who infringes in those push and shove battles because he's a turkey brain.

IMO the only reason you would send Dodd forward would be to play a negating defensive roll on the likes of Sam Fisher, or Luke Hodge, but certainly not as a key position option, nor as a goal scoring option.

Whenever its a 1 on 1 with doddy i fear for the worse.

Smokescreen for lets bash Dodd thread and I thought the silly season was over.
FWIW 2009 FK for 17 against 20 ;)

Earlier on in his career he was able to get under the opposition players' skin without giving away too much. He used to make them crazy - there was one season a few years back where for 3 weeks in a row some player from the opposition got suspended for belting Dodd. That takes some true niggling skill. :D

I think his problems can be traced back to when he was labelled "Stompy". Since then he has been second guessing himself and lacking in confidence but having a nickname that makes you sound like one of the 7 dwarves will do that to a man.

But with Suban and Ballantyne stepping up to the plate, we've got that covered as well these days you'd think

Gotta love the way Suban flies the flag when there is a bit of a stink on.
He doesn't care who, or how big they, he is right in there balls and all.
And we all know and love that balla is an annoying little prick.

yeah, remember against geelong at subi, cameron ling was getting stuck into deboer..... before ling knew what was happening, suban and hilly were in there flying the flag.... great stuff :thumbsu:

Bullshit. ..he is the one who keeps trying his guts out to get us back in the game..when we are down.... You've got it a ss backwards..

He is a defender who competes and tags and blocks and stomps with 1%ers.. He does his job...

If he makes a mistake because he is trying to be an attacking defender setting up the play....you have to ask why is he doing it and not the designated few that do..

But yes, he could improve with his kicking and handballing...or the attacking part of his game....when it comes he's way around to attack...

Hopefully it becomes a team wide thing. Far too many times have I seen just a few flying the flag whilst the rest tried to look invisible.

Bullshit right back at you.
Dodd is the one whose brain snaps first and he either gives away a ridiculous free kick right in front by trying to act tough.
Either that, or he will play the man and not the ball and then turn it over as he loses possession.
And if Dodd is an attacking defender trying to set up the play, with his skills, then I am Kylie Minogue.
