He's a freak. Hawks don't have the currency to get him.

Richmond should go for him to partner up with Rance, have the two first round picks to do it.

We have got a 2018 First Round Draft Pick. With a player to go to GCS

You have to have a first round pick in a three year period. Unless the afl bend the rules like they did for the cats.

AFL already bent the rules for the Hawks. They shouldn't have been able to trade their future first rounder and second rounder last year, but the AFL signed off on it.

That aside, as nickrebellious says - the Hawks used two in 2015, so they're fine until 2019.

Making the Rule a Joke

We traded in a future 2nd rounder so still had one.

The rule change started with Geelong. We merely took advantage of it. As can all other clubs.

If there was a thread for every Barrett rumour this placed would be overloaded.

speak for yourself. Barrett is one of the best AFL journos in the business. The amount of bullying he receives on this forum is a true disgrace, and goes to show that as a country, we have a long way to go.

Not right. There's two separate rules:
1) Clubs must use two first round picks in a four year period (not one in three as the other guy said).
2) Clubs can only trade their future first round pick or later first round picks.

Geelong was the first, and technically they're still in compliance with it as long as they trade in a first round pick this year. They may or probably won't but I can see why the AFL said it was OK as they're not in violation yet.

Hawthorn was the second, and the rule made no allowance for other teams' picks then allowing you to trade yours. Instead previously teams could only trade those other teams' picks, so Hawthorn on-trading GWS's pick would've been fine but trading both their own first and second was a pretty clear violation and/or change in the rules.

In case you're getting defensive just because it's Hawthorn, I'll point out that it's the AFL who made the rules and sign off on all trades so any blame should be applied there.

He is a gossip who would do just fine in New Idea or Women's Day predicting when Kate is going to have her next baby.

Barrett gets everything wrong, reports rumours as facts. Three to do with Port Adelaide in recent memory: Hartlett to sign with Richmond/North, signs for 5 years with Port. Lobbe to be traded, Lobbe stays. Schulz to go to Freo, Schulz remains at Port. Basically during trade period on trade radio he was wrong almost always. Whenever something came from his 'source' he got it wrong. He doesn't present his opinions as such, he presents them as fact. So all in all I guess he's rather disliked because people sense how unprofessional his writing is.

Edit: He also reported every club except Hawthorn was after O'meara and even said they'd have no chance of getting him if they got Vickery and Titchell.

I was always a fan of guaranteeing Andrew Swallow was headed to the Gold Coast.

Is his source a brown starfish?

Damo said Frawley was definitely gone to Geelong. Not to excited cause of who the reporter was. Caro is awful also, which inside people would wanna talk to her from any club?

No chance.

Kind of hope your right. Any club would love to have him, but as for Heeney with the Swans it seems right for him to stay at GC.
