I've been keeping a very close eye on this incident, and with every additional rumour being put up, there's always something to back it up. Must be so traumatic for the families involved in this. Hope they find something soon. Anyone else on the tomnod website? I wish they had other search zones, cause I'm pretty sure we're looking on the wrong side.

Starting to suspect this was a failed hijacking attempt. The passengers probably overpowered the hijackers and the plane crashed into the sea as a result.

We can rule out ghost plane theory too.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 experienced significant changes in altitude after it lost contact with ground control, and altered its course more than once as if still under the command of a pilot, American officials and others familiar with the investigation said Friday.

Unless the hijackers outnumbered the crew and passengers or were some super terrorists I'm not sure how they could stop all of them from communicating to people on the ground that they were hijacked. In 9/11 some passengers and crew were able to make phone calls, send texts etc and I think the pilots have a secret button they can press to alert people of a hijacking.

If they flew for 4 or 5 hours as reported that's a long time to keep a lot of people quiet.
Would flying at extreme altitudes prevent people from making phone calls?

Not sure, I would've thought someone could at least send a text or press a distress button or something.

.

Hijackers created a decompression, which knocked everyone on the flight out bar themselves. This allowed them to easily take control of the aircraft without resistance.

Which would actually be very clever.

Well this is what a bomb blast is capable of, I think its now safe to rule that one out, would be shit everywhere. I find this photo kinda spooky, I can see a dozen peoples faces in the plane.

It really does seem that the only way the passengers wouldn't have gotten a message to the ground was if there was a depressurisation. My guess is that this took place in the cockpit too and the wandering of the plane was either random or by a semi conscious pilot.

If that hijack scenario played out, whether it was with the willing assistance of the pilots or not, passengers probably wouldn't have any idea they have changed direction or the like. If it was done stealthily that is. Plane flying high in the dead of night, no one is going to know where they are.

the plane was diverted hours in in the middle of the South China Sea - would there even be mobile service & there at that altitude?

Very different to a plane taken over minutes after departing Boston and low flying to New York.

Looking at the route, looks like the plane may have been heading towards Afghanistan. With 7 hours of fuel, taking into account the first hour towards east and then switch back west, would the plane have reached Afghanistan?

You'd think that it would have been picked up by military radar from a host of countries. Maybe it was.

Yeah... I wonder if those girls in 2011 were wondering "should we even be here?" when in the cockpit.
It's possible then that the pilots let female passengers on flight MH370 into the cockpit, and the females turned out to be terrorists, then killed the pilots and took over the plane.

Nah, not cynical. Just racist.

How? It's a legitimate cause for concern if anyone boards with stolen passports, yes there's a number of reasons behind the stolen passport, is it impossible that one of those reasons could be terrorism?

Yeah watching channel 7 in the middle of no where at the moment and their add break thing said it was hijacked too

Oh wow. Cheers guys. Wasn't aware that they confirmed it. This is huge. Hijacking a plane after 9/11 was thought to be impossible. Well apparently not.

Makes you wonder now if ACA were onto something with the co-pilot inviting people into the cockpit.
