Re: Stokes reported for striking

I didn't see the incident, was there anything in it? Will he be suspended, and for how many matches?
In an attempt to spoil a mark Stokes punched a little too early and elbowed/hit (not sure which) whoever his opponent was in the side of his face. It was clearly unintentional. Nothing too much in it, fair enough to be reported but I doubt he'll get any weeks for it.

Re: Stokes reported for striking

I think he will get one. Whether or not Stokesy deserves it is a different matter, but going by general suspensions this year, he probably get one.

Thanks for that. The hit was on Chad Fletcher.

Re: Stokes reported for striking

He shouldn't get suspened. He shouldn't of even of got reported because it was soft.
Wouldn't be surprised if he gets one though ;).

Re: Stokes reported for striking

I think it was arguably the softest report this season.

They gave him a free kick shot on goal ffs (stokes that is).

If stokes goes, then we need to start following a sport not frightened of the lawyers.

Re: Stokes reported for striking

Does he have any points hanging over his head? I do not think he should get any, but I would not be suprised if he did get one week.

He has 31.25 points hanging over his head. His biggest problem is he also has 40% loading. So whatever he is given he will get at least one week possibly two.

Re: Stokes reported for striking

Chris Grant lost a Brownlow from a similar incident.

I doubt it will be withdrawn. Will be a week with the grading and a guilty charge and if they want to get him off they will need to risk taking it to the tribunal.

Similar responses in this thread to last week when people didn't think Rooke would go...

Re: Stokes reported for striking

If Stokes goes for that, gee, we're fast becoming the Australian Netball League......:thumbsd:

Re: Stokes reported for striking

He'll get a week. Anyone who says he won't is kidding. All year players have been getting 1-2 for this kind of stuff. It's ridiculous I know but it's gonna happen. Prismall and Monty (Byrnes) wouldn't be too upset though.

Re: Stokes reported for striking

I couldn't believe it, especially Michael Christian harping on about it for 10 minutes. He went for the spoil and his upper arm hit Fletcher's head with minimal force. It's a free kick every day of the week but if he goes for that it's a disgrace.

Re: Stokes reported for striking

Does he really have 40% loading? Ouch.

Yeah you get 10% for every week you have been suspended with the limit being 40%.

In the last few years he has been suspended for 5 weeks, 4 from the same incident. He would also have got off that other one with zero weeks except for the loading.

Stupid AFL blitzes. Now they would not even be looked at or if reported 1 week at the most.

Re: Stokes reported for striking

I think with the loading , he hight get 2 , min. 1

Very unlucky for Stoker but perhaps a lucky break for Varcoe,Byrnes or Prismall because I doubt the Cats will wan't to go thru another Blake finals selection

I thought Varcoe today showed he on the verge of "becoming". If only he could have a bit of luck , he has good hands and is a nice kick.Maybe a sunny sept G will be his domain.
If Prissa misses a spot when Stokes is out he will be gone for sure. He really has done well the last view weeks and and deserves his spot.
