Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

That's terrible news......I will forever remember the Dewmeister at the 'G' last year...he certainly shut-up all the Cats supporters around us :D

Good Luck into the Future Dewie....:thumbsu:

It's a shame he couldn't go around one more time.....

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

Congratulations on a wonderful career Stewie!

You will forever be in the hearts & minds of the Hawthorn Folk.

Thankyou for the years of service!

Thankyou for a 5-10 minute stint in football that I will never forget. It still makes me smile and pump my fists in the air even now ......

Hopefully Clarko & the coaching staff will have his highlights reel playing in the room before this weeks match. So we can go out & tear Adelaide a new a-hole within the first 10 mins!!

How about an assistant coaching role ??

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

With Dew and Croad a possibility of retiring, that will really give our experience and total group age a battering.

Surely we will be the youngest side again next year.

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

Dewy!!!! Well Done mate on a superb career!!!! You used to break my heart with those 60m bombs when playing for Port but you brought me to tears of joy with your premiership winning third quarter in the Grand Final!!!! When I think of the premiership I think of your contested mark and long bomb that led to junior's goal then your two fantastic goals and most of all the dew and williams combo goal!!!!! BLOODY FANTASTIC!!!! enjoy retirement....:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::)

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

Well done to the fat man, will always be a Hawthorn hero.

With Dew gone, if Croad retires the oldest player on our list will be Bateman at 28, then Campbell and Guerra at 27, then players like Mitch and Hodge.

I wonder if there has ever been a team in modern history with the oldest player being 28?

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

For mine it was a highlight of the 2008 Grand Final when Dewy went mad. Enjoy your retirement and best of luck with whatever you do.:thumbsu:

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

Thanks Stu.

We will always be appreciative of your magnificent efforts when it mattered.

And while your time at Hawthorn was brief, you're one of us pal.

The grand final win was a highlight, but I fondly recall seeing Dew play at Box Hill this year. Kicked a handful of goals and just dominated.

With his ample frame, strength and punishing kick he looked an under 17 playing amongst the under 12s.

Good luck with whatever your career holds.

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

Your great skill & leadership qualities were a large factor as to how we achieved our 10th flag.
Thankyou Stewie, your contribution to our great club will live on forever in our hearts. Best of luck with your future endeavours!

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

For all the reams written about GF2008, dew simply was the difference. If the Cats had Dew - they would have won. Simple

That 5 min completely obliterated the pain of seeing Jarman do the same thing for the crows

The footage even has him refusing the trainer (possible rest ?) before kicking his last goal.- you can rest when you retire eh stuey ?

Perhaps he can stay on and coach Dowler to learn to use that booming kick that he has got

One thing we are missing this year is composure. I think we can recruit another 'inspired' chouce if there is one out there - Is AKER out of contract ?

(not that I want to take the focus off the Dewman)

Also rmember Muppet Nietz tried to bump him and bounced off like a toy - Neitz gave it up after that - Used to love crunching smaller blokes - lovely way to send HIM off
Dont think, DEW !!

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

So, will he make it back into the team?

That's the interesting question, isn't it?

You'd think if he was no chance he'd retire immediately - must be some hope of him returning at some stage, if our season is still alive.

Imagine him returning fit & firing for Rd22 against the Dons as we cement a place in the eight....

Ah, I can only dream...:D

Re: Dewwwwwwwww Retires

Well Done Stuey. A major reason we have that 10th premiership:thumbsu:

Successful return claiming his 2nd premiership and 200th AFL match.

Does he get a send off game?
