i muse at this off field arms race, with the pink palace thumbing their noses at the paupers mid season , sending a couple of winged magpies to arizona then I turn on the radio yesterday and I hear the hawks are off to kokoda....again...well ****'em i say, lets do everest. Organise some sherpas and take the list and new draftees to the summit. They wouldn't see that coming, that's for sure...the RFc would finally be on the map and by gee the boys would have a fair conquest under their belts:thumbsu:

Send some money and send them to Thredbo. Same elevation as Flagstaff Arizona, where the magpies go.

Everest Base Camp takes 10 - 16 days from the Nepal side and around 2 hours from The Tibetan side.

Kokoda takes around 4 to 10 days.

The other thing to take into account with Everest is they would need close to a week to properly prepare for the altitude - so our blokes would need to be in Nepal for over 3 weeks to make it happen

As Danny Frawley used to say " yeah, nah..."

It should be compulsory for the entire playing group and off field staff to spend a week in October at Mt Panorama. They should Split them up into 2 groups and call one Ford and the other Holden, they should be made to do boat races all day and night and at the end of the week Matt Hornsby can label the club member that peaked the best as " The King of the Mountain" .

Even better...a psychological exercise.

Take them to Papua New Guinea, deep in a village, strip them of all their possessions and clothes, and let them do some 'anthropological' research, ie, find clothing, food, water, shelter, places to take a dump, how to communicate with civilians.

We may completely ruin their diet, eating habits, and physiques/health, but damn it, they would learn to survive on dead rats and cockroaches.

It costs $25,000 just for a permit per person to climb Everest.
For people with little to no climbing experience, it is a certain death wish.
219 people have died trying to climb.

Heard the other day on the radio a comment about problems on Everest with litter, faeces, and corpses of failed climbers (in that order) that take about 10 years to degrade.
Corpses are visible from the standard trekking route. Anythign higher than 8000ft, are left there. Bearing in mind the summit is 29,000ft.

So we need to keep pushing this and then get the Pies to gazump us an send their squad up there!!

Get CC to announce we are planning on Everest in the future and that any club that doesn't try it is simply not going to win the race to the future. Push it hard and see who bites.

Either that or the squad can do the day walk from the top of Thredbo chairlift to Kozi - in their thongs and singlets (I've seen that many times). They'd have bragging rights to having been to the top of one of the highest peaks on one of the 7 continents and anyone trying to beat them would die of exposure doing it on another continent.

Explain to me why i went up there weighing 72kg and came back a fat ****

Lock all the plays in a room full of spiders and snakes and tell them that if they don't run and train hard, back in the room...

Trust me, they'll be kicking better than ever :D
