In primary school we had a great game called binball.

Basically dodgeball on a basketball court with the small metal bins in the middle of the key with an invincible binguard that couldn't get out.

You won either by hitting the bin or getting everyone bar the binguard out like you do in dodgeball.

Was best played with those small hard basketballs so you could actually get some power into your throw.

In year 6 we used to play against the year 7s but got banned from doing so because we were "too competitive"

I can remember playing Prince of Persia on a MAC in year 2. Come year 12 we were using laptops.
There was also putt putt, freddie fish and one with a bear as games
My year 4 teacher in 2001 was a boss at Prince of Persia, he made floppy disk copies of it for everyone.

In high school we played soccer with a tennis ball on bitumen basketball courts, used to go through a pair of bata scouts shoes every few months. They even had a compass in the heel, WOW.

I hope Rip Rip Wood Chip still gets a gig.

Can't believe I still remember it after all these years (the chorus at least).

"Rip rip wood chip
Turn it into paper.
Throw it in the bin
No news today.
Nightmare dreaming
Can't you hear the screaming.
Chainsaw, I saw more decay."

remember getting this in school in 1988?

Yep. We all got one of those in my family. I think my dad might have mine buried somewhere at his house in boxes of miscellaneous crap.

Diablo II was on a heap of computers in Years 9 & 10 (2001-02) and you could play against each other. Then an IT guy came around and deleted it from each computer while updating the virus protection or software or whatever.

How was that considered appropriate by anyone at that time? We went out on strike in my last year of primary school when a teacher raised their hand at a student. A public caning, fmd, nobody thought that was weird? Maybe we can part explain Westralian eccentricities through this.

The education department would have still had plenty of WW2 vets running it. Violence begats violence. Even WW1 wasn't that long ago for some ...where you could be shot at dawn for cowardice. Mankind has had a violent upbringing. All aboard the peace train.

When I was at primary school the education department was awash with hippies.

Who here was forced to do touch typing in grade 4?
The program was called TTAPS and it was boring AF.

Another typing program was Mavis Beacon teaches Touch Typing which was better and more enjoyable for me.

Grade 4 for me was a real king maths games wise.

Does anyone remember a computer based literacy and numeracy program in PS which was strangely hosted by an Owl?

Another memory of school was how quickly on one day the talk went from whatever you were talking about to speculating who had head lice and, then, when it was revealed who had it, talk about that person for a long time.

Fun. Not. Definitely not for them anyway.

So unfair..

Then they changed the canteen and everything was overpriced and shit
Don't get me started, my first 2 years at my highschool we had an awesome canteen run by parents with the usual pies and stuff with specials on certain days, fridays had ready made cup noodles for like $1.50, was also just a nice orderly line where you picked up what you wanted from the pile/stack and paid.

Then they got that awful company called Spotless in and they created a shitty cafe type area with shitty food and shitty prices.

I had to go to a different location (technically it was a different school but it was mostly the same kids I already knew) for Years 11 & 12 and yeah some outsource campaigner mob ran the canteen so it was shit. Everybody bought chips and gravy. If you wanted a salad and chicken roll (in a Coles type bun not a long Subway thing) it was $7.50. $7.50 in 2004 money...

Spotless does the food at the MCG and Delaware North does it at Etihad Stadium. Or the other way around. Unsurprisingly the food sucks at both venues.
