Should have been a free kick to walters in the first place. That grub Shaw was digging his elbows right into his face

Yep, that's why I don't care if the attempted nut punch didn't quite connect (and I don't think it did). We deserved a free kick either way.

Good on Ballas for sticking up for his teammates, the fact he got a free out of it because of the actions of that meathead was just a bonus.

Valid point about the intent. I would of reacted the same way as Ballaz if someone threw a punch to my groin as well, even if it doesn't connect, just instinct. Just the fact that he pleaded to the umpire "HE HIT ME IN THE NUTS!", even though he didn't really make contact doesn't sit right with me. That's just my opinion though.

I've got nothing against Balla, and I'm actually enjoying his footy. He used to have issues of overacting but he's gotten past that. I just see acting as a real low form, similar to how the eagles throw their heads back, just grinds my gears. But different people are seeing different things from that footage, some say he connected, some don't. If he did then Ballaz has all the right to do what he wants as it is a disgusting thing to be hit there. I however, just believe he didn't make contact. Play on.[/quot

Look at the replay ,he wacked Balla and if you dont want to take my word for it take it up with the MRP ,they said Shaw got him and rubbed him out .

Can't believe Eddie was still claiming Ballas hit Shaw in the nuts tonight before the game. I mean, does he even watch the games? This guy has not got a shred of credibility left and claims Collingwood will appeal because Ballantyne struck first. Just beyond me how he makes comments like tonight and gets away with it!

I didn't see Ballas hit Shaw in the nuts but if he did, I don't think provocation is a defence anyway.
It's always the bloke who hits back that gets caught. ( if he did get hit ).
Hope the penalty gets increased to two weeks.

Where/when did he say this, because he has accepted the one week?

From my watching it from the couch more than once Ballas head was turned away and he was looking over his shoulder. If there was no contact how did he even know it had happened. Maybe it wasn't hard contact but contact was made.

He said it on the Before The Game show last night. He seemed a bit surprised there was a suspension at all and said they'd explore their avenues due to the fact Ballantyne had struck Shaw first, at least thats the way I took it. Anyway, I'm just sick of people potting Ballantyne.

While they are potting him, they are worrying about him.:thumbsu:

When the umpire paid the free, Heath Shaw complained about Ballantyne kneeing him. I think due to this, it was clear that there was some contact from Shaw or he would have argued the point. Ballantyne was standing over Shaw, but I can't see how he is putting the knees in, unless it was from an earlier contest.

I was surprised Ballantyne didn't try for the double goal. Shaw was fumming and looked ripe for the picking. Maybe he was happy to just get a free one.

Get out of a festering club.
Will be the next club to fold, may not be as far off now, would be hard to put your hand in your pocket as a fan when you know the club may tank the result, or be using your donation to pay off a fine.

No fan of any other team would be sympathetic now. Extinction is a pretty serious but obvious likelihood.

And not a single f*** will be given.

Except for the obligatory, "we could score some melbourned players, f*** that" - except for you Jessie!

AFL should have taken a big stick to their list, loss of draft picks, reduction in salary cap, whatever it took to make other teams supporters feel the slightest bit sympathetic, but no, the feather duster came out. Will spell the end for them.

Amalgamation back on the books Melb\Western Bulldogs or Melb\North Melb
what do you think .
All 3 clubs with poor membership numbers and all 3 not financially strong .

Yep Eddie has been telling everyone Shaw was the one screaming .... he punched me in the nuts.
Watched the replay of the game on fox footy, After the game he was saying Shaw said it to the umpire.
Then on AFL 360 they showed him on some other show once again saying Ballantyne hit Shaw in the nuts.

Replays clearly show it was Ballantyne saying it to the umpire and the one who copped the whack.
To really piss Eddie off the club should demand an on air apology from him.
His comments were broadcast to a big audience, many may still believe his words.
If someone made comments like that in the media about 1 of his players and were proven wrong, Eddie would demand an apology.

I still cant see the AFL letting any clubs fold.
More teams = more games which then = more money for tv rights.
Hope im wrong because there is just too many clubs in vic and i cant see them ever being able to support this many teams.
Plus the overall standard of competition drops imo with too many teams.

Suban ehh, needs to lift.

I think I'd like to see you suggest that on the North Melbourne board.

As long as the team plays good footbal;l, the AFL will support them its when they are Penny broke, dont attract crowds to games and play poor brand of football when folding comes up.

North aint that bad

Only problem with amalgamations is you need 4 clubs to do it or bring in a new licence if two clubs merge.
Byes are not what the AFL wants.
