Was about to say what James has said, how few injuries have Collingwood had this season compared to us? And just look at Collingwood hit record high rotations in games this season.

Also, when you look at how much rotations have increased as a % and then injuries as a % with the larger amount of rotations you will see that there is little to support the increase of roatations been a large factor for the increase in injuries.

Smack's value has just gone up. Crows need to have him cherry ripe to go round 1. Gives great flexibilty to the line up and maybe NC could see this writing on the wall with his mantra of players being flexible.

Don't like the rule, would have liked to have seen 4 + 2 subs, cap at 100. Stuck with that FW Anderson having to justify his position at the AFL each year. Every year a new rule to counter the stupid rule from the year before.

Jimmy Sellar may be a bit more than steak knives as some Carlton supporters have been making him out to be. Can't see how Moran and Jacobs if we get him can play in the same team and unless Maric finds a yard of pace and another 5cm his days are numbered as well. Maybe Stevens position may be in jepordy if they want to get smack into the line up as Moran can play forward - don't know about Jacobs.

Another headache for the selection panels to work through.

2 ruckman will stay

when 1 vs 1, teams like Freo with Sandilands and Melbourne with Jamar will dominate all day
so teams will bring out 2 vs 1 vs them, they will then realise (if they havn't already) that a 2nd specialised ruckman is far superior to a part-timer
so eventually teams will start having the 2 ruckman on the field all game to ensure they can compete or dominate the ruck all day and get hands on the ball first

you need your hands on the ball first to win a game, clearances, clearances, clearances. Ruckman get that done for you

They're the most vital position in the field at the moment and the most underrated players in the league.

At the beginning of the season most teams will only play 1 ruckman thinking they need the extra run, but sooner or later they will realise they need 2 ruckman to get the ball in the first place, so by mid year they will be back

I agree with you DB

I think this rule will end the flash player (marginally) that is one that doesn't have the tank to play in the guts all day long.

I'll wait till years end before I judge the rule. The AFL have a history of trying to change something and inadvertently changing the other, so it will be interesting.

would suck being the sub on a regular bais however.

I'm inclined to think the opposite. There may be one or two players who essentially become specialist substitutes. They'll be brought on at or just before 3/4 time (barring injuries), and they'll have their tank tuned for just one quarters worth of high-performance output.
