He fixed a lot of problems in the squad but it'd be strange to have actually made money this window yet not address our biggest need which is a LB

And I hope I can say that without being accused of "not trusting Jurgen's judgement" or other stuff like that I've been getting from some other reds, the fervent followers of a charismatic German is always a bit tricky to deal with

Nah we're gonna take big hits for both of them. Huge concerns for Markovic, since we have a manager (a great manager) that looks at Alberto Moreno and go, ya know I can work with this, but then he has a whole pre-season looking at Markovic and go, I don't fancy this

Also clubs account for players like assets. So Benteke would have depreciated in value in that year unless he'd had a stellar season. His original 26m for a 5 year deal probably sees him down to 20-22m so it's a great sale

Nothings going to happen until or if Napoli can replace him. They are after Maksimovic but Torino don't want to sell to them. The stand off continues.

I highly doubt anything will happen regarding Koulibaly to Chelsea...

And according to Napoli fans they're still light at the back, so even if they signed Maksimovic it could be to strengthen their defence, and not be a direct replacement for Koulibaly.

If they sign Maksimovic I think the Koulibaly deal will be on. In terms of CBs ATM they have K2, Albiol, Chiriches and Luperto. Plus they just bought Tonelli from Empoli. I don't see them being light on for CBs.

Tonelli is out for at the very least two months, Albiol is old and slow and was shite for Napoli last season, Chiriches has made seven appearances since he moved from Tottenham in 2015 (he is also very shit) and Luperto is a 19 year old youth player who has made 1 appearance for Napoli since 2015 (you could hardly consider him an option, would be like us thinking Tomori is).

Doesn't sound great for a side that has ambitions for CL.

Koulibaly should've been our first deal done. Conte being at the euros has stalled a lot of our potential transfers because he no doubt wanted to assess the squad before he started to bring in players, which is fair enough.

I really don't think K2 will happen but I'm not as worried as I was before. That Italian/Juve defence are fossils and they seem to go alright. Cahill is experienced and serviceable, and he also looked a lot more confident on the weekend. Terry never had pace and relied on positioning so I don't think age will effect him as much as it would other CBs. From all reports Zouma is making great progress and he will no doubt be eager to get on the pitch. Having Kante and Matic in front of the back four will help a lot as well.

If we can sign a LB (Rodriguez or Hector) and tough out one more season we will have Andreas coming back and Zouma fit/confident again. I can't see us challenging for the title with Cahill and Terry but I think we can get top four.

Still think we need a CB before the window closes. Terry's body could go down hill quickly at his age, I'm not sold on Cahill and Zouma is still months away. I don't want to be rely on Ivanovic to pick up the slack.

Southampton would be crazy to sell Bertrand at this stage of the window. Any replacement they get will be much inferior.


I'd rate Bertrand as the best LB in the PL at this stage.
