How would he know? Tribunal won't decide a fee until later. Unless he is suggesting a price has been agreed between Liverpool and Burnley.

Just checked his account, she's made up a tweet and put his name to it to make it sound legitimate. Bad FAITH. Very bad FAITH.

All he said (over 2 weeks ago) was that the tribunal would determine Ings' value, and that it's expected to be around £5m. Wasn't claiming knowledge of any exact figures.

The list of things I care less about than backup goalkeepers is pretty bloody short, but here it is: Bolton & Hungary #1 Adam Bogdan to take over from Brad Jones as Liverpool's back up keeper, another free transfer.

Clyne for £15m is looking likely too. Seems like we're making a point of saving our pennies on these squad players, but for what/whom?

Key signings to be made in the centre of the park & up front, the list of players we're looking at in those 2 positions is fairly long and I'd expect some sizable offers to be thrown around in the next month or 2 as we look to fill those gaps.

If we pad out he squad though with Bogdan, Ings, Milner and Clyne for minimal outlay. That's decent business. Then we need to go for that top striker and maybe an CM or AM. Probably two strikers actually.

Rodgers really want to turn Liverpool into a midtable club.

Assuming that we don't sign anyone else for the rest of the window..?

Milner & Clyne - quality additions that will definitely improve our squad, Ings doesn't excite me all that much but at that price he's a smart pickup and a useful 3rd/4th option in attack, Bogdan like most backup keepers we're unlikely to ever see and like I said, I don't really care who we get in that position.

The important thing for us will be to add a Kovacic/Pjanic and a Aubameyang/Lacazette/Vietto to that list. Hopefully the money we're saving on these early additions to the squad will help us to bump up our offers and increase our chances of making those more critical signings. Do that and it's looking like a pretty solid transfer window, miss out and it's difficult to see us showing much improvement next season.

I did not mean Milner but the other signings seem a repeat of last year. Clyne was good this year but is good enough to get you to the top 4? I think if Aubameyang/Lacazette are available then Arsenal and other teams will also be interested who I dont think Liverpool can complete with.

We'll see I guess. Let's wait until we sign everyone we are going to this summer and see the full list of incoming players before we call it.

Clyne was unlucky not to be named in the PFA Team of the Year and while he's not going to get us top 4 by himself, he's certainly of the required standard.

Probably in the minority even amongst Liverpool supporters - I've said this a couple of times but with the exception of Balotelli & Lovren I'm pretty content with most of our work in the transfer window last year. Those 2 were just massive, massive **** ups, unfortunately they were the 2 bookends we could least afford to get wrong. If we could repeat last summer but actually nail those 2 key signings and get 2 top quality footballers (I was spruiking for Lacazette - who we were also linked with, over Balotelli at the time, what could have been I suppose!) in those critical roles I wouldn't be too unhappy.

Agree with you on the latter, all we can hope for is that we can put a big enough offer in front of one of these players to turn their head. Money sometimes talks and from the sounds of things the fact that we were willing/able to offer Milner higher wages than you probably played some part in convincing him his future lay at Anfield and not at the Emirates.

I read earlier that Ings used to be at Southampton academy. True?

As for the rest, no point flapping about a transfer window with nearly 3 months left in it.

Milner and Ings improve their squad but they won't determine whether Liverpool have a good window or not.

It's very debatable if we can get top 4 or not but Clyne would have to be a massive upgrade on Glen Johnson.

For example the tribunal ruled on the fee for Tom Ince 6 months after he moved to Hull.

And it was about 2.5m. Ings is a lot better than Ince, more than 2.5m more.

wed have nochance signing any of those strikers.

Agree.

You'll have Ings, Sturridge, Mario and Lambert(maybe even Origi and/or Borini).

I don't think Liverpool will be signing any more strikers.

A season like that (where we go from being 1 of the most potent attacking sides in the league to 1 that can't buy a goal) for a club as well resourced as Liverpool, and the only changes we make will be a £15m right back and a couple of free transfers to flesh out the squad.. Seems unlikely doesn't it?

I'm not saying you won't buy a few players(i don't see you guys being over active though), i just don't see CF being the area that you'll buy in.

I guess a lot will come down to what happens with Sterling and how much faith your club has in Rodgers.
