I think some Liverpool fans are underestimating how much losing Suarez is going to hurt...if they somehow manage to keep him then they are equal favourites along with Chelsea for the title but if not then it's looking similar to Tottenham MkII from last season where they bought way too many players with the Bale windfall. Time will tell though.

Different situations

Spurs were a one man team in Bale's last season there, they would literally be shit and Bale would "bale" them out with a wonder strike with like 2 mins left, again and again

We have won plenty of times without Luis Suarez, and have won plenty of times without him performing

Of course losing a world class player hurts, but it's hardly the end of the world. We didn't challenge for the title solely because of Luis Suarez, Suarez has dominated in Liverpool teams that finished like 7th

This is kind of true. Bale scored some very timely goals. We were very limited with striking options and he picked up the slack.

The key takeaway from us selling Bale, and I hope/I know Liverpool will have learnt from this, is you don't buy 7 blokes who have never played in England before. We went mental with a bunch of unproven rabble.

I was under no illusion it would take time for them to settle, but it also set us back a full year in our push for a CL spot.

The blokes will come good, but in Liverpools situation you'd go for proven blokes to add depth, with the addition of a couple of future stars. Maintain a CL spot next year should be the aim.

All IMO and FWIW

Can someone explain to me why Luke Shaw was signed for 30m? Just wtf. Laugh everytime.

What's there to laugh about? It's a hefty price but he's English, he's also a top talent, and over 10-years if he turns out to become one of the best going around it will be a very good deal in the end.

I'm happy we signed him.
