He is young plus english and it was for 27 million.

Now signing Andy Carroll for 35 million now that was comedy.

With the way prices are inflating, who knows what you're gonna pay for a quality 24 year old English full-back in 6 years time. Now United don't need to worry about their starting left back for possibly 15 years.
 
I'm surprised United haven't made a move for Barkley. Would be just want they need in the middle.

Young, English, bags of potential.

Lallana is a lot more proven and is an attacking mid. I'd rather pay 25 mill for a AM than 30 for a LB. Lallana was one of the 6 nominated for PFA player of the year. Shaw is just "potential".

Shaw was 27m and will be a defender for 10 years.

Great investment.
 
i'd rather have shaw than lallana really, and it's pretty easy

there are bugger all class left backs out there at shaw's age. it's a long term investment by a club that can afford it. only moreno and rodriguez are of similar age and class out there who are obtainable.

lallana is 8 years older and in a position choc full of talent. there's no comparison.

So you're comparing it to one of the worst deals in recent memory to make it look better? Such high standards.
 
All English players with a bit of talent get sold for an extra 20-25%

If Lallana was £18.7m instead of £25m or Shaw for £22.5m we'd not really be questioning it. It's been happening for years, when we signed Darren Bent for £16m it looked stupid but at a reduced £12m it wouldn't. The one that will always look like bad business is Andy Carroll at £35m even reduced to £26m he'd be a rip off, but that was a deadline day panic buy because Torres shafted Liverpool

By buying Lallana we now have 4 (well will be 3 after Suarez goes) of the PFA player of the year nominations. Lallana just seems perfect for our system. I'm more than happy with Lallana.

Shaw will be the 7th best left back in the EPL next year. It doesn't help Man Utd in the short term, and if they can't get in the UCL soon then by the time Shaw is 25, he will want to leave to Chelsea because Man Utd aren't challenging for titles.

whoop di do really.

both were overpriced. but shaw is a 15 year player. lallana isn't. shaw plays in a position where there arent many options. lallana doesn't.

Shaw is about to turn 19. Shock horror 18yo isn't the worlds best.

We'll be challenging for titles again this coming season.

you mean league one?

at 18 lallana had made 1 league appearance for southampton. he didnt break into the team until after a loan back to bournemouth. he was 21.

Lallana was battling with blokes like Bale and Walcott for a position. Shaw was battling with Danny Fox...

Forgot that Shaw is still only 18!

At 20 Lallana was playing in the 08/09 season when they got relegated down from the Championship, 21 he was League 1 player of the season and at 22 back in the Championship. Safe to say if Lallana is Shaw's benchmark he can't fu*k up can he? Although a Man U relegation would be hilarious for most of us :D
