As for Shaw and Lallana, tarnishing them with the same brush as Carroll, Downing or Young is ridiculous and shows a bizarre lack of understanding. That's like saying Chelsea overpaid for Hazard purely because Fellaini was a waste of money, they're completely different footballers.

Anyone who watched Lallana & Shaw last season will know that they are both class acts. Everyone was raving about them when they were at Southampton saying they were worth millions, but predictably now that they're at Liverpool & United the typical partisan response kicks in and all of a sudden they're a waste of money because they play for your rival.

It's all guesswork to an extent. The Spanish papers always taint their stories to suit the agenda of their clubs though. Very subjective.

Marca are known for just making up crap at times.
