NB: I am making these rules up as I go. They may not match what I've said previously in other places.
Player Use
Supplementaries are used, in conjunction with rookies, to fill in for players unavailable because their AFL team has the bye. All players return to the draft pool at the end of the season, so if they're not going to play in 2011 there's no point drafting them.
The table below shows how many players each club can replace each round. Each asterisk indicates that one of those players is rookie-listed, and in this case you must nominate which replacements are for which rookies, and these players will only be eligible if the rookie has been promoted for an LTI.
Your replacements can be from either the rookie list or supplementary list. Players from your rookie list can be used as many times as you like, while supp list players must be used evenly (i.e. you must use each supplementary list player x or x+1 times). If you have nominated a rookie as a replacement and also promoted him for an LTI, bad luck, you only get one.
These must be posted in this thread prior to the start of round 1 (this includes Brisbane who have the bye). Anyone who doesn't do this will get their full rookie list when they have enough room for their full rookie list, and supplementaries rotating in draft order for all the other spots.
Example
Essendon have rookies Black, Brown, White and Green, and supps Smith, Jones and Johnson.
Rookie Brown only gets used once
Rookie White gets used 11 times, once as a rookie replacement in round 16
Rookie Green never gets used
Supp Smith gets used 4 times
Supp Jones gets used 3 times, once as a rookie replacement in round 5
Supp Johnson gets used 3 times, once as a rookie replacement in round 5
Finals
There is no need for supplementaries in finals as round 18 scores can be used for players with byes in rounds 19-24, however all finalists will be able to nominate one supplementary (not rookie) player for free use in the finals. This player can be nominated in the lists thread any time prior to round 18.
Timing
Draft starts 11pm AEDT Friday March 11 (after NAB Cup final), and concludes 7pm AEDT Wednesday March 23 (24 hours before first game), or when the draft pool runs out if that happens earlier.
24 hour time limits, but if you use more than 18 you get reduced to 12 hours for the rest of the draft. If you miss that then you will be reduced to 1 hour for the rest of the draft. If necessary, I may halve those limits when we get closer to the end.
It doesn't make any sense to take nobody, but there are reasons you might not want to take more than one player. Therefore autopicks will be done for round 1 only, all other rounds will be skipped and passed once everyone's finished. The autopicks will be done at the end of the first round, using an autopick list of 10 determined by the Launceston coach some time before the draft starts.
Order
Just 2 rounds for now, I'll add more as needed. You're guaranteed to have 5 picks (6 for Rottnest) if you want them. When you've got as many players as you want, post that you pass your next pick and you won't be given any more.
