Supporter Segregation: Yes or No?

I can't believe i am reading this.
What has our club come to? I never would have imagined Collingwood supporters being the ones seeking isolation and hiding from other supporters !!!

Our supporters must have lost pride in our club, to want to be shielded from those nasty North supporters, those angry Adelaide supporters, those horrible Hawk supporters, those mean Suns supporters.

It wasn't long ago where all other supporters were complaining that they had to sit with us, and we would just laugh and go harder at them.

How times have changed.

So, now when i go to a game with my Tiger supporting friends, my Blues supporting friends, i have to sit on the opposite side of the ground, do i? I can't stir them about their basket case club, their bandwagon supporters, their dud players. And i expect the same in return.

By all means, keep it as fun and banter, and not personal or physical. But remember, there are as many thug supporters at Collingwood as there are at other teams. These are the supporters that should be segregated (or even ejected).

Don't generalise and segregate people because of who they support, what religion they follow, what country they are from, what colour they are!!!!

It’s a ‘no’ from me.

It’s slways one peanut or a small pack of peanuts that have to ruin it for everyone. I remember going to the 2010 Preliminary Final I was sitting next to this man who followed Geelong, at the end of the game he congratulated me on my teams victory shook my hand and left.

I also feel that segregation would lead to more violence outside the ground and on public transport, not saying it would happen but there’s a chance it would.

A simpler solution is 5 year to life bans for people getting involved in fights. Might be hard to police but it’d be punishing the wrong doers and not everyone.

The only opposition fans where I sit are those brought in my Collingwood members. They don’t last too long if they are lippy.

It’s great.

I wish I could sit with Collingwood Fans as I am a Reserved Seat Member but I get put where the Oppostion Fans are

Something to do with wet and dry areas. Good idea because I don’t want those dry MOFOS anywhere near me.

As long as I dont have to sit with ponies.

Next time my brother isn’t going you can sit with me if you like.

100% no.
No more rules, people just need to take responsibility and behave. I love being near oppo supporters, but I’ve never got into a blue.

Not around the entire ground but I think each club should have their own section to give supporters the option. Also means that end of the ground will be pretty loud when we are winning.

For our games gate 1 Ponsford stand is pie supporters only. Other parts of the ground can have everyone mixed.

I thought the OP was actually referring to Collingwood supporter segregation...
The Sack Bucks verses the Back Bucks...
The Rose Coloured Glasses verses The Shadow Jumpers
The Glass Half Full verses the Glass Half Empty.

Segregation happens in finals. Each club gets their allocation of tickets for members which are sold by sections. Why not during regular season.

Sorry to intrude but interesting question and caught my eye, and no offence but surprised it is coming from your board.
There are always nuffies, at every club and in any even small group of people. I take my young kids when I go to games and apart from cringing at some of the language (from supporters of my club and others) I find it a great day out and the kids thoroughly enjoy it.
I think it would be a retrograde approach and potentially have disastrous effects. Two dogs can play happily in a yard but put a fence between them and they try to tear strips off each other.

Anyway, thought you guys played really well yesterday, for mine it was the best game so far this year.

Actually think the AFL should take it up a notch

At half time, would like to see each team supply 20 fans who are up for a bit of biff

Usual octagon rules - no groin strikes, fish hooking, or eye gouges

May disrupt the Auskick but those kids have been woeful this year

I'd love an area that you knew was not family friendly where you could get on it and get rowdy with a bunch of fellow Pies. Scream and carry on and sing songs without worrying about offending nanna or little Billy.

Actually, I’m more concerned about being offended by nanna & little Billy.

God this post triggered memories of my Nanna on the sauce

A ferocious Richmond fan who wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes in this era of mobile phone dobbing

Edit: in fact I would have reported her even if I was at another ground (jokes Nanna, jokes in case you have the Internet, wherever you are)

My Father in law was a mad Fitzroy supporter........lived just across the road and went to every game with is brothers.

At one game a Nanna attempted to stab him with a knitting needle.......never asked him if she was a Pies fan...hahah :p

The issue I have is I spend a lot of my money with my father to sit in the Collingwood reserved area in the top of the Ponsford Stand. There are obviously seats amongst the area not assigned to members, so for big games (eg the last two) randoms take over via Ticketek.

If I'm paying north of $700 I don't need some ****head in a Richmond Guernsey gushing over another scrappy entry inside 50 that somehow lands in the lap of a fringe player like Butler. That's one of the reasons for paying the money ffs.

let's go the whole hog. gladiators for real no holds barred and a text vote on whether the loser gets killed in place of the old thumbs up or down. can't wait to see the odds from William hill on that one.
