Damn it, well. I hope this enables Thomas to play better next year. You just knew he was carrying something this year.

Godammit why wasn't this done after our season ended, shit house management that could be VERY costly if they miss a sizeable chunk of preseason.

I pray its only a minor clean out that stops them for 1-2 weeks

I'm sure Daisy's surfing trip to The Maldives and commercial filming running around in Barcelona with Billy Slater was exactly what his ankle needed.

Hopefully are just minor cleanouts but re-reading the article I guess this means that they'll miss the altitude camp, or participate in a very limited capacity.

This seems like medical mismanagement to me, they had problems that the carried through the latter part of the season, and yet when others went in for surgery, they didn't.

Stuff up written all over it.

Oh well, at least they'll be back training at least a month before the NAB Cup, but I don't want to see either of them until NAB Cup part 3 or 4, hold them back.

Eagles did the same. Strange to see professional organisations take such risks.

Dont stress he will be up and firing on all cylinders soon and until then we can use one of our guns we pick up tonight ;)

Very disappointing. Daisy was running around, posing for photos at the first training session this week. Doesn't make sense, but have to trust the medical team. We need both these guys to have a full preseason and a red hot go next year!

Yeah not very good. Daisy I know went to Barcelona but what was stopping Goldy from getting surgery? Hopefully it's not too bad.

Based on what matty?

Only the Doctor would know the full story, from afar all we do is make uninformed guesses

You got to be kidding fellas..... sometimes the body actually heals itself without getting a doctor in to prod and push things around. If a player went under the knife for every dose of soreness, he would have ankles, knees etc that looked like mashed potatoes by the time that he retired. And surgeons make mistakes too..

Is it? I'd rather players had a full preseason and missed 1-2 games than missed a large chunk of preseason then went to play round 1.

I'd much rather have them start the preseason later and go into the HA season with X number of consecutive weeks of training under their belt, than 8 weeks of training broken up by surgery and a late start to round 1.

You think this was just a "dose of soreness"? daisy did this injury in round 15.. i don't think a little bit of a sore ankle would niggle him for 4 months+, clearly needs surgery as it didn't even heal with an 8 week break from footy. Surgery isn't a bad thing and aids natural recovery, it doesn't ruin your body. And the quality of surgeons than an AFL footballer would get don't make mistakes, certainly not meaningful ones.

'Consecutive weeks' doesn't mean much, its about how much you can do in your preseason. Having a big preseason is much more important than rounds 1 and 2, its apparent lately that players who miss a significant part of preseason seriously struggle the rest of the year.

heck! I thought Thomas did a knee when I saw the page on the AFL site.
