Pretty big story. If we can have any sort of relationship with some of the biggest clubs in the world, it can only be beneficial.
I'm still trying to figure out whether Essendon's commercial relationship with Man Utd is still active or redundant.

ps: I thought such a system already existed with the Crows since Neil Craig is such an expert in the field of sports injuries and management.

The program sounds pretty good, it is certainly noticeable that the Swans manage their players well. Here is a thought; if you guys have salary cap issues sell the rights to the program to someone who loves the Swans, then have the new company provide 'sponsorship' to your blue chip players. Sort of like Judd and Visy or the reported Cotton ON and Ablett Jnr. That would see you get double the onfield benefits!!!

Hold up a second! I sure remember us first getting this software, and I was sure it came from a European soccer club? Am I thinking of something else?

I remember getting some medical software from AC Milan a few years ago. I'm guessing the software we are talking about in this thread is different otherwise we are really screwing AC Milan over.

I remember that, it died pretty quickly didn't it?

The only software we got from Man Utd taught Lloyd and Monfries how to dive. :o

From memory (which due to prolonged drug use is kinda hazy) I don't think it was software. I believe we went over there to learn about some sort of technique they used to calm their players under pressure. Possibly a sensory deprivation chamber of some sort?

This is what I was referring to.

Found this:

"Reason's expertise in the development of an information management system that has the ability to mine (analyse) all player-derived data, has been integral to our injury prevention and performance maximisation programme, and it is this programme that has been able to deliver the least injury affected team in the AFL that has also been able to continue playing at the highest level."

Swans say goodbye to techno advantage
For three years, the Swans have held an advantage over the rest of the field after adapting a revolutionary injury prevention system from European soccer giant AC Milan to their own needs.

Interesting...

Thanks for the links Mase - that was interesting!

It sounds like Reason took AC Milan's injury prediction software and developed it further for the Swans' use. I don't know much about intellectual property (IP) law so I'm not sure legally who owns it, though I'm guessing Reason built much of it in-house from the links above. In any event, it sounds like astute management by the Swans - AC Milan is hardly going to want to sell their own intellectual property to one of its main European rivals!
