How many years do you think we will keep getting Buddy references?
Next year we'll be getting reports on who stood up to fill his shoes, year after it will be how we've coped since his retirement etc, etc, etc.....
The poor media is going to be soooo confused in 5 years not knowing who to talk about?????
will it be Gulden and his 3 brownlow medals?
will it be Campbell and his bomb from 60 out to win the flag in 2024 and again in 2026?
Warner and another burst out of the centre bounce to kick a goal and win the flag in 2025?
Amartey, the first player to kick 100 goals in a season since Buddy?.. (phew, we get to mention Buddy again)
Heeney, Paps, Mills and their 4th AA in a row?
Grundy and how hes become the glue to Swans midfield?
Cox who wins 2 flags in his first two seasons?
Beatson and how hes built the the most successful list in AFL history?
or will they concentrate on Cyggy?

Okay. We might do Franklin count at the start of the Autopsy Thread. Heh. Then we can compare - do we get less Franklins when we win and more Franklins if we lose? What sort of game results in a double digit Franklin count?
i'm now interested in how this pans out ... great idea, you can guarantee it will be a feature of our games

Or will it be 4 Warner brothers dominating the midfield and wings ?

Gulden is only a chance to share the Brownlow as Ollie Florent starts his 5 Brownlow run this year.

Any loss we have will be due to the Buddy void lol.
Logan kicks 5: “he’s done his apprenticeship under Buddy and learned so much from the great man!”

Logan kicks 0: “he’s evidently struggling without Buddy’s immense presence!”

We face at least 6 months of constant Buddy references. Better just get used to it.

will it be Gulden and his 5 brownlow medals?
will it be Campbell and his SHORT PASS from 80 out to win the flag in 2024 and again in 2026?
Warner and another burst out of the centre bounce to kick a goal and win the flag in 2025 and 2027?
Amartey, the only player to kick 200 goals in a season EVER?.. (phew, we DON"T get to mention Buddy again)
Heeney, Paps, Mills and their 5th AA in a row?
Grundy and how he's become the glue to Swans midfield?
Cox who wins 3 flags in his first three seasons?
Beatson and how hes built the the most successful list in SPORTING history?
or will they concentrate on Cyggy?
Corrected, due to a distinct lack of hyperbole.

Pretty refreshing to hear that.

I think Kane has always had a soft spot for our club. If we were a St Kilda, North etc. type run club and committed with going mills as our skipper after the circumstances that unfolded, he'd for sure be criticizing us for that decision. But because of our consistent success, culture and coach, he finds a way to justify the decision as a good one. Understanding that Horse has great knowledge on our players.

So Kane, Bucks and Tim Watson all heaping on expectations for Sydney to have a huge year. Even Garry Lyon had big raps on us. That probably means no sneaking under the spotlight this year, but as long as we can live up to the hype, Go Swannies.

Loved when Gulden was asked by Cornes about our key forward firepower (post Buddy). Besides the three talented talls he reminded Cornes we've also got this young recruit called Reid who is fresh from a year off and pretty handy up forward. Cornes didn't even acknowledge the comment, maybe because it doesn't fit his agenda of hype.

Whether we go all the way this year may well come down to Sam. It doesn't matter so much if he plays a bunch of games or just fills gaps towards the 2nd half of the year. If he can recapture the form he had against Melbourne in QF 2022 and against the Pies in PF 2022 before he was injured, he has an opportunity to erase any disappointment from the 2022GF and maybe even finish with another premiership medallion.

To start with a healthy list is one thing. To take a healthy list to the last game in September is another thing entirely. Reid's going to be key to helping us do that.

So Gulden's working on improving his kicking. Seriously? I'm struggling to see how much further he can improve, unless he's planning on playing in defence this year and scoring goals from kick-ins. Now that would get the commentators excited.
I've seen some stats which show Gulden's short kicks are poor and miss targets above average. Probably where he will be working on

There are at least 5 areas that EVERY player can always improve on:
1) Kicking accuracy, distance, trajectory
2) Handball accuracy, distance, trajectory
3) Running endurance, burst speed
4) Agility, balance
5) Game Awareness
Gulden no exception, just starting from a higher baseline.

I mean they won so thats all that matters but if we managed to win in that way i would be sheepish bringing it up.

Infact you can go back to the Prelim vs GWS and make a case there as well.

i'm sure this has been posted on here and thoroughly discussed but i just discovered it ... and it's quite breathtaking to see it all together

like most of us, i'd imagine, i've tried to blot this game out of my mind ... at the time, i was living right in the heart of bulldogs territory, had to walk to the train station every day for weeks seeing dogs colours on banners, signs, shops, front yards and windows ... i kidded myself i didn't mind them getting their "fairytale" but there was always that feeling of resentment

so seeing this ... as i said, breathtaking to see how blatantly bad the officiating was

I've never seen this video before and I almost wish I hadn't watched it. Has spoiled my mood. I want to say it's really distressing but then I think of people in war zones and I can't bring myself to say that but you know what I mean. Disgusting. For shame!

oh yeah ... this is barely a shadow on the sun when you see the true shite so many people find themselves in (and the world finds itself in) ... but when it comes to evidence of crimes in sport, this is pretty stark

I remember going to my cousin's wedding and his best man was wearing a bulldogs 2016 premiers cap and I felt like knocking him out.

I was living in a country town in the Western Bulldogs heartland. There were red, white and blue balloons on every shop of both sides of the main street. I wanted to get a pin and bust all the blue ones the night before the grand final.
But I chickened out.

If you did that, you would have felt like the result was karma for what you did

You did the right thing

It isn't the Bulldogs or their supporters fault that the 2016 disgrace occurred.

My issue isn't with the Bulldogs, or even the AFL.

It will always be with the media for totally whitewashing the entire thing.

If it was a VIC, SA, or WA team that copped what we copped, it would have been the story of the game. Rather than the months long slow-motion tongue bath of bulldogs.

There was 100x the media coverage of that one incorrect goal umpiring decision in Adelaide last year than there was the entire 2016 GF umpiring.
