Missing our first 3 inside mids, went 5-5-1 last year at home. Melbourne just missed some talls on a night where talls sucked

The last 5 minutes of that might be the most we’ve really gotten out of John. Ever. You can see what the game means to him and that he genuinely wants it to grow in Sydney and he’s passionate about us getting a fair go.

How sad that it’s been the AFL for 35 years and it still, in many ways, is the VFL. They get the most important game of the year, the only one that matters, in their state 99.99999999% of the time (COVID the exception) and it’s not enough. They can’t let anyone else have anything.

It’s absolutely appalling and disgusting if I’m being honest. A lot of Victorian footy fans and media personalities have a lot to answer for. They’re a disgrace.

I know , as Colless said to me once Eddie is okay , he just sticks up for his club and i trust our great former chairman.

I confess I don’t really understand Matthews’s point. They’ve all got to travel out of Victoria a few times a year - though some probably wish they didn’t - so does it make much difference if it’s their first game of the season.

I heard somewhere (I think it was On The Couch) that this year is the first time in around a decade that the Swans have played their first game at the SCG. We did, of course, get to start our season out at Stadium Australia two years ago, but that was officially a Giants’ home game.
