HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Its all being put together here : http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327751

I downloaded the game. Now what do I do? I dont actually know how to run it. If someone could please give me a hand , that would be great

I did download the instructions and got OLDDOS. I followed the instructions and restarted my computer.

I put the game on in my folder D:\Demos\Fantasy Footy and then made a New folder (D:\Demos\Fantasy Footy\New Folder) and extracted it to that because it asked me too. Then it said that some folder would be in the C:\Windows Folder so I had a look there I didnt know what to find.

HOW TO INSTALL
--------------

1) Double-click the file OLDDOS.EXE. This will cause it to
de-compress itself.
*******************************************************
* *
* CAUTION! Make sure that you are running this *
* .EXE file in an empty folder or on a blank *
* formatted diskette! *
* *
* DO NOT run this .EXE file in your \WINDOWS *
* or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder! *
* *
*******************************************************
did this in D:\Demos\Fantasy Footy folder

2) Use the INSTSUPP command to install these files to your
hard drive. By default, these files will be installed in
your Windows\Command folder.
I dont have a command folder?!
3) Once you have installed the files, you can delete the files
from the folder that OLDDOS.EXE was run.

NOTES
-----
After you install the supplemental tools, you must restart your computer
before using them. This is because INSTSUPP modifies your SETVER table,
and you must restart your computer for the modifications to take effect.

Bah just stick it in the C:\ and doubleclick it.

But before you do, if you already think you HAVE installed it, find out by going to the RUN command off your start menu, and enter the term qbasic and press OK.

If a blue qbasic screen comes up, then its working.

Nah the blue screen came up when I reinstalled the whole thing again.

Doesnt matter. I cant be bothered trying to set it up. Thanks anyway Mobbs

I have done everything right I go into QBASIC and then go into it.

I click create a league and then type the name of the league. Then it says abbreviation or something then I type it in.

Then it says something about subscription out of range?

I just have a question about banned users......it says we have to delist any banned/booted members from our lists at the end of the season. Is there any way that we can have a list of said players posted at the end of the season? So we don't miss anyone. I have to admit I don't have a clue who's been banned.

Nahh no need to apologise, the game is a bit 'user-hostile', bugs here and there.

The path is an option on the Main Menu, about 2 from the bottom. You press Enter there, and then just enter the path where qooty is saved.

If its in C:\qooty, then that's the path : C:\qooty

Don't finish it with a slash, unless you've been up drinking all night ...

Also, if any of the folders in the path have a name more than 8 characters long, then you will need to find the 8-character DOS name for that folder, and use it instead.

EG my qooty is in :
c:\1-utils\applications\gams\basic\qooty

But "Applications" is a folder with a title of more than 8 characters.

So I went in to DOS (Start bar, Run, "cmd"), then navigated around to find what the folder would be called in DOS.

(Long names are usually truncated to 6 characters, then a tilde "~", then a number representing which instance of those first 6 characters)

Here's how my path turned out :
c:\1-utils\applic~1\games\basic\qooty

There you go, hope that helps!

Mobbs - need some help with QOOTY

Thought I'd post on here this time - more appropriate.

My QOOTY is running beautifully - was just wondering, though, how to set up fixtures. Just about everything else I've figured out, as this way I can run a full season!!

Thanks mate

I'll add my reply (per pvte msg) here and then merge this thread into the FAQ thread.

when you have a set of teams ready to go, go to the Menu system (can't remember what the title of the menu is but its the one with adding leagues and editing teams on it), and choose "Set Config".

This locks in the teams. No new teams can be added. It also Creates an initial empty ladder and a fixture. Once you've done that, you can go down to the View menu and view the fixture. It doesn't automatically play matches according to the fixture, but it does create a fixture for you.
