QOOTY Version 6.3 - Now You Can Be Even Lazier!

There's really only one function added into the program this time, but its a pearler. You can now tell the computer to play an entire season without a second key press! This relies upon a league being configured, and the due dates for each match having come due or overdue. All you have to do is turn on the new "Autoplay" function (within the Setup menu).

Once this is on, the program will monitor the fixtured, unplayed matches against the current date. When a match is due to be played, it'll give you a few seconds to opt out, then it'll go ahead and play the match, it'll save whatever data you have set to save, and return to the main menu screen. If there's another match due, it'll then go and play that one.

So, if you're gonna use this feature, make sure you have already sorted out what stats you're saving. Make sure you're happy with your fixture, and the dates you expect to play the matches (you CAN change the dates in the DIARY.DAT file but its not user-friendly yet).

Anyways, I tested this today and played a 6 round season of 4 teams within an hour! It won't play the finals automatically, though.

This was a fairly involved undertaking by my dodgy self, so there may be issues. I would recommend (as I usually do) that you back up the whole shebang before trying this update out.

Alright so.... two questions. What do I need to download and do I have to get my own players? Like.. other posters from the Geelong threads?

You don't need to download anything. One program (that I'll run) will deal with the whole league.

The only thing you have to do is say "yeah I'll play" and hope 19 other blokes from your area say something similar

Small follow-up to the Version 6.3 release .. there was a bug in the Set Config screen. I believe I have just fixed it. If you have downloaded 6.3 prior to 13th April 2007, might be worthwhile downloading it again!

Whole bunch of updates ... can't be stuffed explaining them all. Started a fledgling website creator, can now make fixtures of teams playing each other a number of times other than 2, some cleaning up of this and that.

No, it will work on a new computer.

I'll try and explain it.

Create a folder in your C: drive, e.g. QOOTY.

In that file download the Qooty.v6.5.zip file into that folder.

Click the zipped file and you should get another folder called Qooty.

Click on that folder and you should see six files.

Now download the OLD DOS file from:

http://www.footypedia.com/qooty/

into the folder with the six files in it.

Double click on the OLD DOS file and extract all the files.

The six files remain but click on the OLD DOS again and in the black box it should ask Extract all files y/n? Hit "y" and a heap of files should now appear.

Now click on the 'Q' MS DOS Batch File.

Another black box should appear saying Program Files Missing.

Hit Enter.

It should then say there is no path data and a default one has been created. Hit Enter.

You should then see a contents of Qooty screen appear.

It has 3 files in light blue at the top of the list.

Hold down CTRL and hit ENTER.

It will then go to another screen saying Program Files Missing.

Just hit ENTER twice and you should go to a screen called:

GAME PACE EDITOR

Press ENTER when satisfied with the game speeds.

Then you'll come to the home page.

You must create a League and teams before it will let you play a game.

I have incorporated the above into my website and shit.

Qooty has been updated through and to Version 7.4, with more bells and whistles, yet hopefully less bugs. Update advisor, Comments compiler (no longer a need to back up your homemade comments!) and various other bits and pieces have been added.

Are You Using Windows Vista????
One problem I am having is assisting someone who is on Windows Vista. They are getting a major issue with DOS's ability to read the drive contents.

If anybody who has Vista is using Qooty, or thinking about it, or doesn't mind trying it in order to help me out, could you please give it a go and report your results? I have a thread asking the same thing on the Qooty forum.

Version 8.0 ... OUT NOW!

I invite anyone who has Version 7.3 or later to test the "Update Advisor" function your currently have (its an option in the bottom menu). With any luck, it should tell you to go and get this update!

Report Compiler YAY! Just choose your league and the entire report for the round just finished will be produced for you!

Simplified all the messages that appear when you first download the program. Now it works out whether you're new, realises that you just haven't played the game yet, and creates everything you need without slapping your wrist about not having paths, etc.

When I download the AUTOEXEC.NT file and I click on it it says unknown file and windows can't open it because it doesn't know what created the file.

I have spent ages fooling around now, can someone help me?

Nope. Well, you can, but they're irrelevant. They are not used by the game.

The game creates random heights/weights for players. You can edit them by SETUP LEAGUE > Edit Team > {choose league} > {choose team} > {choose player} > {right cursor to choose field} > {Spacebar to edit} > {enter new data} > {Enter} to accept > {Enter to save team}
