That's all completely fair enough I just think it's important to consider that there are people who engage without posting in match threads. We have at least two who pretty much post more in the PM than match threads, one hasn't posted in a single match thread this season yet they remain engaged in a level that suits them.

I need to think about that a bit.

My interpretation of Sweet FA is that it's largely theater within a sporting context; i.e. we're all occupying self-defined "roles" and using those roles to interact with the rest of the players.

What you describe sounds more like a media consumption position, and you're 100% correct that there is nothing wrong with consuming Sweet FA without posting. It strikes me as odd, since that's not how I interpret the place or how I have fun here, but if that's what someone enjoys then more power to them.

That is largely how I view the league too. Sort of like a sports themed DnD with the sim doing the dice roles while I play a role. Perhaps contradictory to that though, I'd probably prefer match threads were just a weekend thing. Although I do understand that's a minority position.

While this may also sound opposite to my stance, I am pro active engagement as a larger captive audience probably makes the efforts of those who contribute meaningfully to the league (the Hate/Falcs of the world) more appreciated and worthwhile in persisting with.

What I don't get is when a person visits another thread, only to be told to get lost. As long as you're being respectful, I don't see the problem. Aren't we trying to promote engagement here?

My analogy is that it’s like a parallel universe, a bit like Second Life. We can imagine things into existence and if they’re engaging enough to others they’ll start to seem real.

Many posters actually revealing their real lives only adds to the perception that at times it truly reflects reality as we know it.

So too does the level of honesty afforded in the PMs, where privacy can be respected even when there’s candid discussions.

The capacity for real support to be exchanged should not be underestimated.

Predictions of the imminent death of fake footy forums are premature.

Embrace the gate crasher 🙌🏻

Also on the whole engagement thing, I’m convinced if I post and engage in the thread, I will play better.

Haha I remember doing this in my first season.

I just upped the level of disrespect if anyone pulled that card.

Now that I have statted some Hit Outs the Sim needs to work on granting All Ghost ( this week only, AKA All Aust.) greater DT points each match enabling All Aust to self aggradize adding to the multiple areas of bant l spew, that, fair dinkum, befuddle the crap out of the barely to fully sane.
From that position, one can't be overly critical of any other SFA team or poster who might have XY and Z going on in life?

Some Sweet posters are entirely engaging, many are consistent, some hash the same posts season in, season out. Others engage in bant only with posters they have bantered and grappled with for many a season. Comfortable yes, with the acknowledgment that these people have put much effort into keeping SFA running for the many years.

We should know Spam, the comp needs a level of it. When do we spurn it? Do we moderate we someone invites themselves into a game solely to attack a poster and destroy the game?

Rock on good people. It's a pretty gregarious joint. High 5's, baguettes, Charcuterie, drinks and desert of your choosing.

I'm convinced sim performance is linked to usernames somehow, I just haven't got any proof whatsoever.
I’ve been proving that wrong for a loooooong time.

I don't think i've posted in about 3-4 weeks until today.

Yet I've logged in and read a few pages of match threads 1-2 times a week during that period - I just had nothing to say.

It takes all sorts to make the world turn, Braklet.
