We have a genuine champ in the making.....no tantrums or abuse, just gets on with the job like Lleyton, no matter how exhausted he gets....he will go down fighting, not give up like a couple I can think of..

What an absolute pleasure he is to watch....good luck Alex, with you all the way again tomorrow

Love the De minaur, definitely got the it factor. Will become a household name if he knocks off berdych round 1 AO

I believe he will anyway, regardless of his results in this years AO.......the kid is stuffed, it's been a big 2 weeks for him. He may win the 1st or 2nd rounds but I don't expect him to go too deep into the Open.

His day will come... he's too good for it not to, we just need to be patient.

It will be exciting to watch his progress over the coming years.

He looks a ripper, very reminiscent of Lleyton at times, you can see the impact. Alas, newly acquainted with late night tennis, which might catch up with him by the (very winnable) final.

Regardless of what happens against Berdych, his summer has been stellar and has set up his career nicely. C7 would be rapt ratings wise, given the men's side is often a lame 250.

A lot to like about Australian tennis this summer.

Yeah not expecting him to make it any further than round 1 if he does win

Agree with all you've said.......Aussie tennis is alive and well again for both men and the women.

Just hope I can sit through 5 sets in the Slams. I really do like the 3 set format, it gets exciting but with the longer sets, you get put off knowing it can end up going for anything up to 4hrs+

I'm actually the opposite. Loooove the 5 setters!

Interesting point about the late night tennis. No complaints from Alex or his team about him having to play late at night and only being a teenager ;)

I remember he won a round at Sydney and he AO last year but I couldn't remember what he did after that so looked up his record. He played a lot of Challengers where he for the most part didn't get too far. Didn't get past qualies in most other tournaments and failed to qualify for Wimbledon (had WCs for the French and US). The people he was beaten by during the year are well below the ones he is beating now, he's made huge progress.

I'm not the most patriotic person when it comes to sport but I actually want Angie to win. Enjoying this return to form from her. Nothing against Ash Barty though.

Will barrack for De Minaur tonight so there's my Aussie spirit!

Me too, I want Kerber to win. Ive always liked her game and it's great to see her playing well again.

Whatever De Menaur does tonight he looks like a genuine talent. Playing with so much confidence at 18 he is a pleasure to watch.

Agree with others that he will be exhausted for rnd 1 at the AO and have alot of pressure on him aswell, but good on the kid and looking forward to watching him for years to come.

I'm a fan of Kerber aswell but still will be happy if Barty wins aswell, she is in great form and still so young.
