Utter crud journalism
THE Dockers share more than an ocean with the Indian cricketers, who have proven so invertebrate this summer and who sunk to new jellyfish depths at the WACA Ground on Friday.
As we know, Fremantle and the Indians don't win often when wearing the proverbial white shorts.
As Geoff Lawson, the former Australian opening bowler who coaches Kochi in the Indian Premier League, put it: ''Their away record is not poor. It's horrendous.''
In fact, the comparison is a touch unfair to the Dockers, who have not been terribly successful anywhere.
Over 17 mainly miserable seasons, Freo has won 55 per cent of its games at home and about 26 per cent on the road. The Dockers have had only one winning ''away'' season, in 2004, when then coach Chris Connolly made a concerted effort to turn them into road warriors, only to see them crumble at Subiaco and miss the finals. For a West Australian team in the AFL, four away wins out of 10 is usually enough to play finals.
