Hall isn't even on 500k with the Swans

It was reported that Hall signed a four-year deal worth $2 million.

If they hadn’t given away Everitt they WOULD have a flag IMO.

Probably would have, but Everitt, however, was stale in the St.Kilda enviroment and needed the change of scenery. Glenferrie has served him well and produced the best of him.

It does not matter if he was stale, thats equally StKilda's fault for allowing it to happen. Bottom line, StKilda have traded away a ruckman and a CHF that could have won them a flag. Ruck and key forward are the two most important positions in a team on GF day.

After all they have got, would you really start a new thread about this??

What more do you want??

How about the AFL decress that the previous years premiership coach has to coach the Saints until your draft picks can snaffle a flag?

FFS!!
who is whinging?? There are a few responses to the idiot troll element like yourself.
I don't know who split the thread, I asked the question earlier.

You do realise both wanted to leave don't you Hotpie? or mayb you just don't want to know.

Of course they did. Mal Michael and Nick Davis wanted to leave Collingwood too, but that does not make us any less culpable. We should have had a culture where the top players want to stay. not go.

Maybe StKilda's culture has changed since then, it probably has, but in the case of Everitt and Hall, the horse has already bolted.

it's easy to point the finger at the club isn't it.
Everitt is an empty head who and to this day know one really knows why he left for the Hawks, things may have been said to him about pulling his head in ? He did when he got the Hawks, he realised he had to, if the Saints had been his second club it may have worked out similar.
Hall went for the big bucks with Lockett talking him along, the lure of a different city, hard for a club to counter that.

Its just as easy to point the finger at the player. "He's a nutcase, he's a mercenary, we dont need him, we replaced him with somebody else, he wanted to go interstate and theres no way we could stop him, blah blah blah blah"

Won't be long before Sydney leeches another big name player from another club.:(
They won’t have the PSD blackmail card used so well by the Saints when they leeched so many but they will have the extra cap space so they will be in the market.

All clubs have to manage nutcases with varying degrees of success. It goes with the territory. StKilda failed to manage Everitt and Hall and Lockett before them, just as Collingwood failed to manage Michael and Davis.

There's been a million Spida Everitts go through the system.

On that note who was a bigger loss Everitt or Hall?
Hall they have covered. Everitt is very likely the difference between a flag or two over the last 2 years and maybe more in the future. Losing Everitt has possibly cost the Saints more premierships than they have won in their entire 100+ years of existence. That’s some perspective for ya!

not if Kozi and Hamill cant get on the park.

Also don't forget that Hall rejected a larger offer from Carlton to go to Sydney so the Swans didn't win him over purely with a large amount of cash as so many like to believe.
Interesting isn’t it. They need a salary cap allowance to compensate for increased cost of living but recruit stars and premiership winning ones at that for less money than Melbourne clubs offer them.

That certainly doesn’t help but it hasn’t been the forwards that have let them down when it mattered. Add Everitt and they would have played in at least one GF IMO and the last two would have been very winnable. They’d go into this season with almost no discernable weakness and Kosi would be able to played forward or back and probably would have had his career extended by playing less in the ruck. Trading Everitt might well be the most expensive decision ever made by the St. Kilda football Club IMO, lemming denials notwithstanding.

Correct, but I have outlined the situation in this case and the ball was in the players court, pure and simple.
I'm not sure why your club couldn't hold Davis or Michael but the Saints had no choice with our 2.
To say otherwise is wrong.

You always have a choice. The difference between your situation and Collingwoods is nil.

The only difference is Collingwood supporters acknowledge the mistake (especially Michael) while the StKilda lemmings continue to argue that Lockett Hall and Everitt were no great loss and you are better off without them. The Premiership medallion around big Bazza's neck suggests otherwise.

This is where you lose me Hotpie, I have never said that those 3 weren't a loss I have simply argued that the club was not at fault, Lemming is a Carlton trait yours seems to be one of an ignorant nature. :(

.

This is the important point. The Swans haven't had a top 22 player ask to leave since... Shannon Grant I guess. After losing a steady stream of up and coming stars - such as Gaspar, Rocca, Heuskes et al, we've managed to staunch the bleeding and it's paid off.

Oh, before you cite the cap, we haven't used the extra space since about 2002.

Brisbane, Essendon, Port Adelaide. All Premiers in recent years. Barely a quality player lost from their teams at the time they won the flag. Good teams keep their good players.

........which makes you a lemming. You are not prepared to question the player management of the club at the time.

??Why do I need to question something when I already know the answers?
As I said we know who the Lemmings are and who the feral ignorant ones are don't we.

It’s always amusing to see the St. Kilda lemmings call the Carlton lemmings lemmings. Nearly as much as the former animal enclosure inhabitants call Collingwood supporters feral.
