It’s always amusing to see the St. Kilda lemmings call the Carlton lemmings lemmings. Nearly as much as the former animal enclosure inhabitants call Collingwood supporters feral.
I don't think we need any more proof do we ?

If you put personality differences aside, inserting Everitt back into the 2005/6 Saints line-up would be more beneficial to St Kilda than inserting Hall in, you'd think.

A top class ruckman would make a big difference, while a top class forward less so, given Gehrig, Riewoldt et al. The only possible bonus to the Saints of Hall back in their side would maybe be to move Gehrig back to defence, where he was very effective for a while.

But I wonder whether he has the fitness to play in defence any more. As a forward he is certainly still good enough to dictate how the duel pans out, whereas in defence he'd be run around by the likes of Brown, Hall and Tredrea.

No, inserting the Everitt of 1997-8 into the saints side would be good. The everitt of 2006 is rubbish, a quarter of the player he was.

So was Knobel before him, and Capuano before that.

Rubbish??? You're not to bright are you. He's in the top 2 ruckman in the league atm.
Him being injured in the granny of 97 cost you a premiership, and now him not being part of your side has also cost you of late, and likely for the future.

Ackland and co aren't fit to clean the boots of Everitt. :)

relevance?

we obviously thought they were stars, the sacking of one and trading of the other are clear pointers to how good we thought they were.

genius.

Don't have to believe it, its right there in your face.

Spida arguably the best ruckman in the league, if not second best.

Sydney getting better use of the ball in the prelim because you had no quality ruckman to counter the Ball and jolly combo.

I know it hurts. :)

He's right, though. Everitt is a better player at Hawthorn than he ever was at St Kilda, and he is in the top couple of ruckmen in the league.

Whether or not he's a selfish ********wit has nothing to do with that.

The relevance is that if you substitute Everitt for them you might very well have a premiership. The relevance is that in face of inadequate rucks you traded Everitt and then got beaten in finals in the ruck and knocked out. Everitt is the best ruckman St. Kilda have had since Big Carl. Might be some irony in that.

by that logic then we can start discussing how great Josh Fraser is then, eh?

We didn't shed Everitt because his future contribution was expected to be poor, we got rid of him because of the person he was. His influence on our developing stars was not wanted. He was disruptive and a bad influence off the field as well.

The positive was the room his departure left in the salary cap.

He shaped up for a while at Hawthorn, or so I was led to believe.

PS what does all this have to do with Sydney Trades Discussion

Are you talking about the same Everitt that helped propel your side into the grand final in 1997, the one that contributed to rob harvey winning the brownlow, The guy that was arguably your best player in that year behind Harvey.
Yeh he might have lost his way as most players do when your club is losing and injured all the time, but there is no doubt that with a fit Everitt in your side you are a better side and thats one position on the ground you are almost guaranteed to win.

BS. He wanted to leave earlier but you persuaded him to stay. He was headed to Collingwood for a time. He stayed, played for a while longer and wanted out again so you let him go for a reasonable trade. You didn’t get rid of him because of who he was but you probably didn’t try as hard as you might have because you weren’t as concerned at his loss due to his downside. All that means jot. His loss cost you at least one flag and counting.

Down the track we'll see. A bird in the hand as they say.

They won’t have the PSD blackmail card used so well by the Saints when they leeched so many but they will have the extra cap space so they will be in the market.

What, Brett Voss and Powell .....................

Carlton offered $500K
Sydney offered $650K

Sydney could offer that much due to extra salary cap space

Given who our president was at the time, we should have offered more;)

Whats it matter now, in your quest of pilchering overpaying cheating, you have broken the bank and now can't afford to even pay your lowly cap...

But you always have your past to think of....just no future....back to kiddies ball for you lot...although victory are going backwards quicker than the blue dinosaurs.
