Tambling is a dud

Thomas,
Pendlebury,
Murphy,
all midfield prospects taken a year later as high draft picks, Selwood, Boak, the list goes on, he is so far behind these guys its not funny. But keep fooling yourselves, hes no bigtime player. Average with too many deficiencies. Stp mollycoddling and face the facts.

Deledio stood up and was counted

and yes I was at the game dickw.ads, I saw him get smacked in the middle all game, have never seen a highly regarded midfielder show so little awareness in close, goes at the wrong time, fumbles and doesnt have evasive qualities to shrug a tackle. Quicker you all accept he'll never be a star the less dissapointment you face, and the less rubbish the rest of us realistic supporters will cop from opposition supporters bc clowns like some of you continue to talk him up.

Your expectations of him are the problem.

And you need to get away from comparing Tambling and Lids. Try comparing Lids with other high draft picks.

Look at the impact Franklin has had and compare that to the impact Lids has had.

Lids is a talented player yet not a proven match winner. So was Ottens.

No, they arent, I just want him to show that he is going to be a decent footballer, I dont even think he will be that let alone a star. Expectations arent the problem

The only reason I am comparing him to Deledio is that others have been suggesting that Deledio hasnt been much better than Tambling when that is total nonsense. He definitely has not taken his game to Franklin levels (who has from the past 4 drafts?) but hes been very good value since we drafted him, always contributes. People criticise him but yesterday he went into the middle for a quarter and a half and got leather poisoning, won plenty of contested ball and showed he can do something. He compares favourably to all the other high picks I mentioned Franklin the exception. and he is a year younger than the average for his draft still 20 yrs old

He's not though, that's the thing. You may think he is based on potential, but on what they've done so far Tambling is ahead.

you have your opinion I have mine, I have no hesitation or embarrassment in stating that I think Boak has done more and shown more than Tambling to date.

BINGO.

Tambling was getting thrashed but was kept in the middle. He was all at sea. While he may be improving, he is not playing as a top draft pick should.

Delidio needs to pull his finger out & start taking games by the scruff of the neck. He's been coasting for too long now.

I still can't believe we picked Fiora instead of Pavlich and Tambo instead of Buddy. Imagine the team we would have had now :o

YER i know it would be good

it like i should have brought that house ten years ago

we cant go back .... i know its yery dissapointing lossing to the kangas

they finnished 4th last year we finnished 16th

tambo will be great for this club ( but wats his best postion ?) i dont know ?

i dont know what any-one thinks about greg miller (should not be on the ground after the match walking with the coach )

foot note is it time for miller to leave the club ......... whats other peoples opion ?

Interesting write up from Mark Stevens in the Hun today.

"Richard Tambling continued to grow in his transition from a crumbing forward to a breakaway midfielder.

And, while his feet occasionally moved faster than his brain, he showed enough to suggest he could yet be another high draft pick to eventually silence the doubters."

In a remarkable coincidence, Bruce Matthews wrote the exact samething:)

Go tambo:thumbsu:

i like richard tambling, but for a kid who dominated junior football as a midfielder, he shows very little class. at least in deledio you can see the kid has weapons at his disposal. i just cant see it in tambling. he doesnt have the frame to be an in and under, so i can cop with that. bt ike daniel wells on the weekend, he was abe to find space and rack up mid 20's possies, why cant tambling do that? surely finding space has nothing to do with confidence, wells just proved it. a lot of it has to do with work rate, and not just for one qtr or a half. i dont thnk any tiger supporter is asking him to win games for us, but just put in 4 qtrs. has any one else noticed that when he is playing well, the sting is out of the game, this is not a good sign.

Tambling was far from our worst last night.

The bad was that he squanded some possesions and fumbled on 4 or 5 seperate occasions that cost him the ball. But the good is he actually play in and under and won the ball a few times.

Getting smashed in the clearences like we did shows how we need Tuck and Johnson as bigger bodies in the centre

Thats why they are respected experts who pen for the biggest sports paper in the country, and you are.... Um, who are you again:confused:

a realist.

I dont know whats more embarrassing, 10 effective disposals from midfield putting you into the best, even though your opponent(s) pants you all game, or people acceptiong that bc "experts" said so LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :o

A Realist would be pointing the finger at Tambling,s more senior teamates such as Tuck,Bowden and Brown:rolleyes:

A breakdown of the clangers would be helpfull.

Of his 15 touches, 5 were contested and 6 went inside 50. Only Wells had more with 7 inside 50`s

How many fumbles were in contesting the ball in heavy trafic? Tony, you should know that stat.

Now i would assume thats what Matthews was refering to when he said

"Richard Tambling continued to grow in his transition from a crumbing forward to a breakaway midfielder."

He is improving at a rapid rate, and just because he isnt racking up 20+ every game their is no reason to proclame he is a "Dud"

I still have faith in Tambling! He'll come good, just give him time. A run in the two's might be just the thing to give his confidence a boost!!

One thing that disappointed me when I sam him on our half forward flank waiting outside a pack for an easy handball. When it cam out to his man, his tackle slipped and the Roos were off.

I'm no expert, but surely if he threw himself into a few packs, won a few hard balls and showed some heart, he my improve in a few minds around here.

On a day when we didnt have to many winners, 33% of Tamblings possesions were contested. And his courage last week? That mark runnig back in full flight with eyes only for the ball, taking the mark and getting polaxed was soft? Tambling has plenty of courage.

and N.Brown had 4 inside 50's and a goal from just 11 possessions, big deal he was still attrocious yesterday whatever spin you put on it.

Who cares where the fumbles were bazzar? really, do the elite ball winners fumble? does murphy fumble, does deledio fumble? does thomas, Lewis or pendlebury fumble as often regardless of whether its congested or out in the open? No they do not, Im marking him hard bc he, like them, is a high draft pick and simply not producing as you would reasonably expect.

And two of the fumbles were in a non-contested situation which cost us and him another 2 inside 50's in the final stanza. One a feed from Lids he dropped it, and the second Ive already mentioned, spilt it while standing still ffs

Difference is those lads have some runs on the board. This is not about 1 game, its about the overall picture, yesterday just confirmed it for mine, hes just not quite good enough.

I havent even seen him put together a full decent game, 1 quarter here, a half there, his best game imo was against collingwood last year, his first half was very good, problem was his direct opponent was better (Thomas) and he went the whole 4 quarters, not MIA after a half

Fumble or clangers? Elite players have lots of clangers. Dont believe me, go check out champion data for the last 2 years.

Im talking about the ability or in this case a lack of, to have clean hands to enable a takeaway or clearance.... Thats on top of clangers. I know top players make errors everyone does, but 5 errors from 20-25 possessions is better than 5 from 15, 1/3 of your possessions resulting in errors is simply not good enough, Lids had 2 from 27 just as an example.

Another game.....another illusion that Tambling is of AFL Standard.

Reasons I'm over this DUD!!
1) Shits himself constantly (Bling The Clanger King)
2) Constantly half ass attempts, one arm tackles his speciality therefore letting a player get away. The sign of a player who thinks we the spectators think he's having a red hot crack. When in fact he's BSing us, the club and the coach.
3) Looks good running away from packs when fed the ball. (Anyone can look good doing that)
4) No peripheral vison, hence the constant need to turn the wrong way and back into trouble.
5) Doesn't know how to get the ball out of traffic if there isn't an escape route to carrier it out. And that's what sucks in the Tambling believers.
6) Can't hit a target. Woeful.
7) Motors his speed down when he has to do anything defensively like catch a guy, or spoil a marking contest he has to get to.
8) Positionally lost on the field, over and over again.
9)Turns his back on the play.
10) Too light. Gets pushed away from packs and contests.
11) Gets a handle full of possessions and then everyone turns on the 'wishful thinking' light bulb. "Oh, maybe he'll become a good player?" Wrong.
AND THAT ****ING MORON WHO PUT HIM IN THE BEST PLAYERS IN 'THE SUN' COULDN'T HAVE BEEN AT THE GAME.
12) Anyone notice how well North's Indigenious players played?
They were in everything!!!
13) Tambling has the body posture of someone who is constantly exhausted.
14) Tambling is the Iceberg around 'Titanic Terry's' neck.
Terry can't drop him now, cause he's bet his nads on the fact that he'll become a Champion. Bad draft pick, and now we're stuck with him because Terry can't lose face on the Tambling selection. That's just plain stubborn and stupid.
15) Gets the occasional free kick when he's lying on the ball. (Two weeks running) Now that's a skill.....lol. Krakeour used to get them. Sometimes the umps are just looking to give the Indigenious player a 50/50 free kick, You've all seen it happen.

Gee, we've sacked better players than Tambling in the 80's and 90's.

This joke selection and its persistence needs to end.
Pack up the Tent and give someone else a try in the side.

Tambling has shown NOTHING over any consecutive 42 games that warrants us keeping him.

Sorry Marty McGrath.....all is forgiven.....someone at the RFC thought you were bad, guess what, we now have worse.

-------------------------------------------------------
deliberate!! @ the game and sick of seeing Tambling the Cat promise a lot and delivers NOTHING.

rubbish!

he was horrible today, dont care what healy and co thought, he was ineffective in the first half and apart from a decent patch in the second half he was pretty crap, ball is like soap in his grasp

I'd give you Newman, Thursfield, Simmonds, possibly Bowden and maybe Pattison who were better than Tambling yesterday...but that would be about it!!!

Probably illustrates just how poor we were across the board!
