Tarantino off - Brown fires

Last night proved just how damned good Tarrant is. He really is a brilliant, brilliant defender.

It was heartbreaking watching Brown start to dominate the minute Taz got injured.

I guess the question is, just how good is Tarrant as a defender? How does he rate against all other Freo fullbacks? Haddrill was the closest thing to him I would think. Is he Freos best fullback in the clubs short history?

If he can keep this form up over a few years I'd rate him as our best ever. His current form is probably better than anything we've seen since O'Reilly won our B&F in 96.

Really his only competition is Haddrill and O'Reilly and both of those two were only at their peak for a 2 or 3 years.

Only problem is Grover, Taz, and McPharlins best position is all defence. If they all play there we are top heavy down back and are left with Kepler, Scotty T, Murf and Kiwi up forward which is a major problem as none of them are forwards.

FB Tarrant
CHB McPharlin

OUT Grover
IN A young, future KPD prospect capable of taking a 3rd tall. Should've been Drum, sadly, it hasn't worked out.

It's that simple really.

Kepler is in Sandilands/MJ/Clarke's spot.
Thornton is in Mayne's spot.
Spud/Kiwi are in Pavlich's spot.

Anyone have a solution? And dont say play Pav up forward cos we have no midfield either even when he is fit!!!!!

That is the solution though. Pavlich HAS to play the majority of the game up forward. Palmer, Mundy, Hase, Ibbo, Hill, de Boer etc just have to start getting the job done in the midfield next season.

I agree with this. Even for the rest of this year let the midfeild work itself out with PAv to play forward - deep preferably, too rest his body. Playing too much mid at his size will bang him up too much.

Mundy back to half back flank. The guy is not a midfielder and that's his best position his rebound 50s was his highlight during rising star yr.

Looks like no one has to play out of position if we are all fit. Injuries are all that's to blame. Can't wait until Round 1 2010 when this team can take the field together. There's a lot of quality there.
