Tarrant to Carlton?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I don't know why people talk about this stuff like it's just Ratten's decision. You'd think a whole lot of folks at the club would be sitting down and talking about the possibilities and what's good for the club and why this is so.

You guys meaning posters on this board or the CFC?

I have NOT heard anyone from the CFC mention Tarrant at all involving a trade.

So how are we (meaning the CFC) obviously interested in Tarrant?
due to the fact that ratten says it every 2nd day in the press, and because he also states the need for a key defender as carltons` main priority in trade week.:thumbsu:

The fact that Carlton have an article on their web page says to me that they may already have an in principle deal made with Freo for him, similar to how McLean got to us last year. I don't know, just my opinion.

It's good to see Ratten talking up the capabilities of Tarrant and Brennan. Not.

Does he not understand that it's the role of the incumbent club to talk them up and try to increase their trade value?

That has only come to light in the past few days.

At the time when I replied to an Adelaide poster, there was no talk at all from the club. That was on Tuesday.

Since my post, the CFC have held a poll on the CFC website in regards to Tarrant & Ratts was questioned about Tarrant on live chat yesterday on afl.com.au

Call him Mr Quick Fix.
Another Voss.

But trying to shore his position up for another extension on his coaching employment.

Who is Collingwoods defence?

Ratts needs to understand its not about defenders but about defensive play all over the ground.

Pretty sure they have their captain Maxwell and O'Brien down back with two AA guernseys betweeen them.

Plus Presti who has been a rock down back.

And two top ten picks in Brown and Reid.

You only see Ratten's recruiting as self preservation, rather than recruiting to address a list weakness because it suits your agenda.

You're like JBLUES/MCB who wants to sack Hughes.

Roos brought in all his retreads, yet he was retiring after this year.

With or without Ratten, Warnock and Mclean are in our best 22 on everyday of the week.

Have to agree. He should NOT be making public comments about trades. I'm sure Swan's not impressed. Doesn't help our cause at all. Coaches should focus on coaching and keeping their jobs. Our list managers and negotiators will work on getting the players we want at bargain prices. Don't want quick-fixes. Trading away anything above a 4th/5th round pick for Tarrant is silly. Prefer we focus on finding some talent in the draft/rookie pools and continue to develop Austin and White. Can't afford any mistakes. Not exactly happy about the prospect of losing talent like Walker and Jacobs and getting a 30yo injury prone defender.

:)

Come on TG, you know better than to indulge THS. He comes on here with his little rants every now & then. Same message just dressed up differently each time he pays us a visit. Has being doing it since before Ratts & Hughes came on the scene.

His list management is about self preservation.

Steven Icke is in charge of list management, Ratten and Swann are also parts of it.

If he was all about self preservation he wouldn't have taken development players with plenty of upside like Yarran, Lucas, Davies, Robinson, Armfield etc.

Trading has been to improve specific areas of need.

IMO, there are still a couple of cliques at Carlton that want to dictate who runs the club and who coaches the club. Not sure if the Unofficial Selection Committee are the boat rockers or another clique (not sure what the USC's current leaning is, just throwing them up as a vocal supporter group). Some see themselves as being spiritual owners of the club and superior supporters. They don't care who they tear down in order to fuel their massive egos.

It would be nice if they inserted some balance into their arguments now and then.

Sure we need a tall defender but if there are none around that fit us well, and Tarrent and Brennan don't, then it's not worth it. We'd be better off chasing a good midfielder adn try and fill the holes there.

Josh fraser and Chris tarrent direct swap according to the West Today.

Let's all hope this one goes ahead.

Josh Fraser deal likely

Tarrant, who turned 30 yesterday, this week flagged his wish to return to Collingwood, which is keen to add another key defender to its arsenal.

Fraser would provide Fremantle with useful ruck support for Aaron Sandilands, freeing up tall utility Michael Johnson to settle in a key position, probably in defence.

Josh Fraser deal likely

Carlton would be silly not to at least table an offer for Chris Tarrant!

Based on these:
1- Carlton backline has been the weak point in the team since the retirement of the GREAT Steve Silvagni....and you r joking urself if u say that Tarrants form over the oast two seasons is below par.

2-His age/injuries make him a risk- true... but they also bring down his price tag. Blues would only be offering a Browne/Anderson swap or a second round pick - which in this years draft isn't a gr8 loss (especially if we end up with two 2nd round picks). He would be good value at a small price to take some pressure off Bower at CHB, as you could see last few games he did struggle. Tarrant lets Bower take 3rd tall and get more confidence. Gives Austin (future star) and White (very Kouta-esque) more time to develop in Bullants.

3-Versatility.... We have seen what the Blues can do over past two years or so with their adaptability when struggling in a game... they did it with Waite/Henderson playing both ends (and Austin/White too when playing) depending on what the needs were at that point in game. Heck, Bower and thornton even kicked goals. Tarrant is definitely an option to throw forward if needed given he is an all-aus full forward

I predict the blues to offer Browne for Tarrant and possibly a trade in late picks to compensate Dockers....would be happy with that

If you mean a trade of our 5th pick for your 2nd round.

The Blues might be out priced by the Pies who can place him on the vets list. By the sounds of it that will make a reasonable number of posters pretty happy.

IMO he is a gun back and I hope we do not go near Fraser. Pies back line will be made even better and incredibily versitile.

Fremantle have scoffed at the idea of recruiting Fraser... this is true

on Hawthorn board, there is a thread saying that on Nova yesterday Tarrant has rules out Hawthorn... this is only rumour

I don't want him... i mean if dirt cheap yeah... but he's got pie germs all over him... I mean it took Scotto a while to brush himself off that filth and Cloke just could not get rid of the filth, no matter how hard Setanta tried to help... at 30, he will never be able to scrub hard enough

I'm not a Brennan fan but he is a perfect fit for us. The only reason I wouldn't want him is his form is too inconsistent and he isn't much of a team player. No doubt if he could switch on for all 22 games he would be a perfect CHB for us.
