That's exactly it.
The AFL want this club to be a franchise of the AFL, not the Tassie State Team.
As such, they will not wear the Tassie State team branding.

Surprising that they’re looking at using the state team colours then, probably muddies the water between the two being separate, kinda like how the Crows eventually tried to wear the state jumper that one time.
This was my take on the franchise style, kept the green but in a different shade and went with black and white for the colours of an actual Tasmanian devil. The V design is also representative of a Tassie devil’s fur pattern. Not sure what you can conjure up with any symbolism with the state colours other than it already being the state colours.
(Also yeah I know Phillips retired, this has been in the vault for a long time.)

I know this quite left field. But I think the Tassie team being called the Tasmanian Krakens would give it a great story line. Crossing the bass straight to battle the krakens.

I like it, but I think they'll go with the obvious; Devils

bunyip is more aussie so maybe that since that's irsh but still a good idea two tones of aqua and green with white or something would be alright

These are great. The white would only be necessary for away to Adelaide off the top of my head as one of the green or maroon wouldn’t clash with anyone else

They could also be registering it to use as a secondary mark, like over the numbers.

Steal this Western Bulldogs training guernsey design, replace Bulldogs with a black monogram. Definitely the best training uniform I've seen.

too similar to Fitzroy and Brisbane the roys will probably throw a fit meaning Brisbane will as well

No one is throwing a so called ‘fit’ over a design that has never been submitted or approved for use. But if any clubs that start with T eg Traralgon, Townsville etc want a change and use this design in their colours that would be great.

i mean if it is 100% the roys wouldn't be happy they would still love to be in afl but having a tassie team repping a very similar kit is like poking something that is already dead with a stick

Did Geelong kick up a stink when Adelaide used their design? Did Collingwood kick up a stick when Hawthorn used their design? Why is it now all the sudden a problem?

Adelaide's design is different, Collingwood didnt because its brown and gold but they did it for port the only difference is the green the roys won't be happy because they aren't in the AFL they have already been screwed over they won't be happy if this happens and they get screwed again and you can be more creative with tassie, they lost it when Brisbane changed their kit to the paddle pop lion and they had to change back this may be just as bad

its fine on any other level but not AFL don't mind the design but 2 teams wear this it needs to be different and more creative

I don’t recall any annoyance over GWS shifting to something closer to the Lions design, it’s a pretty standard footy design even if it’s only synonymous with one AFL club as a few VFA/L clubs have worn it at different points (Yarraville, Box Hill and Bendigo off the top of my head). I think the colours are where you can really stand out from another club that wears it, and if Tassie have Green, much like GWS and their orange, it has the potential to look like it’s theirs. Maybe the monogram draws the similarities but this monogram has the thin lettering which is different enough from Fitzroy’s old jumper.

The Giants had a big white G over half their kit, bit of a difference there. But to be honest, the yoke design is a bit plain, would much rather something new and unique than looking like a local footy team

The Giants current jumper is such a step down from their original, I definitely hope Tassie have something that’s unique rather than another basic design that’s just a variation on another teams jumper

sure the colours are slightly different but its disrespectful to fiztroy and there will definitely be many angry people gws is different enough the colours are completely different while Tassie has one colour different to the roys
