Burton/Walker not too disimlar an output. You'd probably expect the difference alone based on experience let alone who has had the ball kicked to them more.

The nicest way I can think to describe this is that Craigy doesn't respect talent and the natural 'big game player' ability enough.

He obviously puts far more emphasis on seniority, effort and training form. Shit he even respects those qualities more than the ability to execute under pressure based on current coaching/selection form. (not all emphasis - just 'far more')

I am bitterly disappointed its taken me this long to fully appreciate/accept this and its hurting real bad right now.

I am NOT saying guys like Walker don't need to put in or fit into the team culture. They do. But **** ME - the kid is a very very talented forward and he won't even make a few positional changes, that most would agree make sense to at least 'try', to accomodate him (whilst he still keeps teaching him all the other stuff).

I guess they persisted with playing Bernie through some slow patches til he came good - why aren't they doing the same with Walker?? What is it about Tex he has issues with?

And shit - if he says this week 'we did xyz because thats the product the supporters want' I am going to lose objectively because I will bet Stiffy's left nut (or whoever's it was.. macca23 maybe?) the vast majority of supporters wanted to see a product this week where Tex was the given the chance to be the primary leading forward target. So I'm sorry Neil NO NO NO - you are NOT giving the supporters what they wanted.

Craigy hates players that play with flair. Marti Mattner is an example. he has x factor . you just need the right players around these guys as martin has proven. Taylor walker looks dangerous when going for the ball but our forward entry stuff is sh....t.

Tex is playing poorly because our forward line is a joke. This is surely a result of not having a forward as the coach. Nobody on our coaching panel really has a clue how to setup the players, make space and show where players should lead and when. We are deeply ****ed

Utter crap. I'm sorry but this is garbage.
Tipp and Walker can work together, but they need to be given time to do it.
TBH I think a forward line something like:

Walker Tippett Porps
Knights Mckernan Burton

Or Walker Tippett Porps
Knights Burton McLeod/Edwards/Pets/Thompson

are far far far far far more dangerous and logical than what they have been doing so far. Of course it also requires them to be a FORWARD line, not a HBF/wing line.
CRAIG SUCKS.

Uhhh. We would get r*ped with that forward line. We need more mobile players, with the forward line we basically have 5 marking forward types. Tippett, McKernan, Burton, Walker and basically Porps who plays more like a 3rd tall. We need more crumbers not marking forwards. It's not garbage. Taylor Walker's best position is Full forward, same as Tippett's. At this stage we prefer playing Tippett as our main man, not Taylor. In turn we've trued to make Taylor into a CHF when he clearly isn't. Walker isn't going to get the best out of himself when Tippett is in his favorite and best position. If he plays SANFL this week as a FF, the main man he'll kick 5 at least easily.

Sorry guys but based on what we've seen, Taylor Walker is prehaps the most overrated player on our list. Has a huge frame, yet skirts around the edge of contests waiting for it to pop out. He cant win the ball one on one if hes left alone in the goalsquare, and fails to be an efficient lead up half forward ala Burton and cant get into the game when hes pushed further up the ground.

I was mad for about an hour after I read this thread at work... This decision really infuriated me. Dunno what this does for the kids' confidence. However get to see Hendo which shall be good. Still don't agree with this omission though.

What does it do for every other players confidence when they see taylor walker tip toe into a contest and fail to win the ball.

I think he has a great future for the AFC, but you cant let him get away with being soft as a fairy. Hes got plenty of mates so hes unlucky to be the only one dropped, but i guess experience counts for more.

When contacted the nite before you are not required to train with the squad and then would train at norwood tonite !

Matthew Wright and Jonathon Griffin were training today and I'm fairly sure they're fronting up in the SANFL on the weekend. However Tony Armstrong, Will Young, James Craig and a few other weren't there.

Could Walker's dropping be more than just so-called 'poor form'? Or is his absence from training justified by the fact he's playing SANFL this weekend?

The only thing you have halfway close to correct is that he attempts to rove and protect the fall of the ball when he would be better off contesting.
Nothing else you have said is even close to correct, the only lead up marks he hasn't taken have been from blatant interference. Adelaide have the least number of favourable frees in the league. That he has 20 marks and 15 forward 50 entrees equal with the highest in the team of under performing suppliers from the rebound 50 makes your opinion rather unsupported by facts.
He's played 18 games and isn't favoured by Craig in them at all, the team slaughters the ball and Walker is never one on one in the square. You'll see Knights closer to goal then Walker. Interesting placement for a running player.

Have to say I generally agree Dangerzone, as yet Taylor has not come even close to living up to the enormous "wraps" placed on him by some BF members, for a player of his physique he really doesn't seem keen to get his "hands dirty" and his 2nd efforts and "chase" are still lacking. Whilst I am yet to be convinced he is the second coming of the "messiah" as some on here seem to be I would still like NC to play him at FF for 3 or 4 games in a row to really form a better opinion. Taylor's big plus is his kicking and on that score alone he is streets ahead of Tippett who seems to have the dreaded "yips" in front of goals again.

Time will tell I guess???

Cant understand the love in for Walker. He is playing like luke Jericho except he is 10 X slower. Hopefully he gets it togethor soon but Tippett and Burton are much better options at FF at this stage. Deserved to be dropped. He cost us the game against melbourne with that lazy lazy terrible kick into the middle that missed 3 of our players and gifted them a goal. He is a developing 19 yr old key position player who has been dropped. No big deal.

I think you're being rather kind. 95% of the time if your closest to the ball, you're better off contesting than protecting space.
I think you'll find that 20 marks is not the highest in the team, neither is his 14 forward entries. Its easy to spit out statistics, but harder to make them fit when you consider hes been our 3rd most preferred target.
He looks lost when trying to provide a lead inside 50, and further up the ground fails to WANT the ball.
And i'd say every team would like more free kicks, but complaining about it doesnt help anybodys cause. If your using free kicks to defend Taylor Walker, why not the same for Neil Craig?

I want him to be as successful as anybody else, but hes just doesnt impose himself like he should. As I said before, hes got alot of mates (Knights, Porps, Burton, Tippett) so hes unlucky to be the only one dropped, but experience obviously counts for more than unmet potential.

Walker certainly hasnt lived up to the 'most talented crow ever!!!11one!!' tags, but come on....stick the kid in his proper position, dont try to turn him into something that hes not and see what he can do. He isnt going to live up to anything as a half back flanker. Full ****ing Forward.

Whats he going to prove in the SANFL this week? He'll kick 6-8 goals against one of the 18 year old Port defenders and then what?

Just dont see the point. Youre screaming out for goal kickers and yet this happens? Craziness!

over 800% more discussion over a dropping of a player than a promotion of a player and their debut

such is the negative behaviour of this board

As fantastic as it is that Hendo will make his debut Walker being dropped is a much greater talking point, given his history and our form, at the moment.

For me this is the lowest point of a disasterous year so far as it confirms that NC and the AFC really do have NFI. If he was played as a forward and dropped, then I could possibly understand it, although it would still be a harsh call. The fact NC, with his brilliant versatility policy, is trying to turn him into a forward/midfielder and he gets dropped because he's struggling is a disgrace. I'm not even angry anymore, just disillusioned with NC and the direction where the club is heading.

On the positive side, there are 15 other clubs who can recognise a great young talent.

Anyone remember a guy by the name of FERGUS WATTS?

This just reminded me of him. Kicked 9 in a SANFL final. Had huge potential and got traded to St Kilda.

Unfortunately he broke his leg when he got there but went on to play 60% of the Div 1 amatuer league games and kicked over 100 goals.

@CaptainDangerfield....To be fair, there are 14 other teams that can kick it to a target inside their forward 50 and therefore have a use for Taylor Walker.

Walker has 10 times the natural ability that watts had.

Can't kick 10 for the eagles in an SANFL semi final and not have a great deal of potential. He did get picked up at number 14 in the draft in 2003.

Watts was a lot harder though, crashed packs and hit hard.

I just don't want to see the same thing happen to Walker as happened to Watts.
