Ease up Dave.

Call me a non supporter, but I just don't see the point in such hatred for the umps. Sure they get decisions wrong (more often than not it would seem), but the errors in this seasons' games have been more often than not at a point where we've got a large lead.
I have a pack of middle aged women who sit near me, who even when we're up by 50 points, have nothing better to do than abuse the umpires rather than watch the footy, constantly bickering amongst themselves where it gets to a point where you'd be rather watching it at home.

I hate umpire bashing too it is predictable and childish and more often then not done in a massively one eyed manner. You will hardly ever see someone who is having a go at umps all day acknowledge that their team was favoured by the umps (my mum is a classic example) they are easy targets doing a tough job, they get it wrong sometime but so does everyone else in day to day life and as I said it's a hard job it's not as if they go out there aiming to get it wrong and I don't think any of the critics could do it better.

And before anyone compares umpire criticisms to the ones that players recieve the difference is that supporters will acknowledge when the players get it right, there is high praise and criticism of players it's a much more one way street when it comes to umpires.

Anyway seeing they are all so rubbish week in week out in every game of AFL and seeing the AFL is in the process of going back to the OL SKOOL to please the fans, I think that umpires getting it wrong every week isn't good for the look of the game we should deffinately go back to having the captains umpire whilst on field.

Though McLaren has had a Bad Record against us and Even in 2008? in the Game Daisy Won us in the WET even the AFL said he was Terrible

The thing that shits me is when an umpire tries to be bigger than the game.

For example that wank Wenn, getting in the face of Connors and saying the garbage that he said to him.

Chamberlin is another one, prances around the field and just has to be in the game.

Everyone makes mistakes so I can deal with a bad decision but don't try and be bigger than the game.

I have not seen the Wenn incident in the context of the game, only his remarks, which you can only make out with assistance from a few subtitles.
I'm sure there was some incident which would have sparked such a rebuke.

Anyone know the background?

Great news, McLaren has one game left.

SCOTT McLaren will retire at the end of the season after 17 years of umpiring at the highest level.

Unless the 42-year-old is in the AFL’s 12 highest ranked umpires for 2010, he will end his career at the MCG on Sunday in the Melbourne-North Melbourne clash.

McLaren will leave the game having umpired the fourth most games in the competition’s history.

I actually find that it is these "old fart" umpires who cause the most problem. Hayden Kennedy has lost his mind recently also, and should retire and leave it to the modern umpires.

Surely McLaren couldn't be rated in the top 12 and get a final, he is terrible.
