Team for Round 2

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

With the exception of the suspended Rocca, this should have been our team for Round 1.

Walker, Williams, Shaw, McKee OUT
Rocca, Davison, Nixon, Richards IN

Better late than never.......

Great to see Bo and Guy in the team, I doubt that Tommy will play as he still looks VERY rusty IMO, and certainly won't play if its wet.
I would've given Rhyce ONE more chance, but I'm certainly not going to argue him being dropped.

ABOUT TIME MM ETC!!!

A change for the positive. Hopefully the three newcomers get a few games in a row to show a bit, because I wouldn't expect too much too soon from them. Good luck to them!

Even if only one of the three debutants puts their hand up and has a good game its a massive positive. Time to weed out the duds and progress as a team.

B: Johnson, Prestigiacomo, Wakelin
HB: Clement, J.Cloke, Cole
C: Lokan, Burns, Lonie
HF: O’Bree, Rocca, Fraser
F: Didak, Tarrant, Davis
FOLL: Richards, Buckley, Licuria
I/C: Davidson, Holland, Nixon, Woewodin
EMG: McGough, Swan, Walker

Yep, certainly starting to look like a classier side without the four hacks (Williams, McKee, Walker and Shaw).

Still think McGough in for Davidson come Saturday morning if wet...

Great.
About time we showed some balls at the selection table and have a punt on some youth rather than persisting with proven failures.

I wouldn't expect too much too soon from these kids. Not only do we need the balls to select them, we also need the balls to give them plenty of games and plenty of game tiime. Especially Richards.

About time, MM - a much better looking lineup.

The beauty of bringing in the three first-gamers is that you know at least three will be having a red hot go. Whether or not they perform it won't be through lack of trying.

This looks like a good team on paper. Hopefully the more senior players can lift their intensity as well. If they do the Doggies won't get a sniff. If they play like last week we will be looking at 0-2.

MM had a brain fry, just like he did early 2002. He has woken up.

The key point here though is, after MM pulled his finger out in '02, the players did also.

I'm hoping the players have copped a blast for their insipid performance(s) and show some heart, otherwise the changes will be wasted and possibly even detrimental to the kids' development.

The Dogs kicked 20 goals last weekend. We've barely managed to scratch together 10 for any of the preseason games.

Players who should be seriously reprimanded after last week include Leon Davis and O'Bree, and under advisment that if they don't lift their game, they will make way for kids who will.

It's this sort of locallised pressure that can lift a team, so here's hoping.

This point is so important. Kid's need that first game to give them a bit of self belief. that is they feel "yeah, I can play this game at this level".
If we get flogged or the senior players put in crap performances that can have a damaging psychological effect on a young player ie self doubt can creep in.
Can set them back half a season or even a season.

I'd go further. We aren't running a day care centre here. I'd tell O'Bree that if he doesn't play well this week he will be playing at Willi. Then I’d tell him if he ends up at Willi it will be very difficult to get back into the seniors. If he ends up playing much of the year at Willi he will be traded. That is about where O'Bree is at IMO and he should be told that. Give him a chance to prove that he is not just an average skilled, medium paced, dime a dozen, second string midfielder. Personally I think that is what he is but he can find the ball. Either he does it now or he tries it elsewhere next year. He has played far too few quality games since his first year with us and he has let us down in too many big games.

As for Davis I'd make the same offer. Play well this week or you are at Wili. I’d tell Davis that with his record he needs to play 4 very good games in a row at Willi to get back into the seniors and then he has to contribute each week to stay in the side. He does far too little most game when he plays in the seniors. The only reason I wouldn't have axed him at the end of last year is that we a desperate for pace and he has some.

Lokan I'll give 1 more week in the seniors to as well but his situation is not as precarious because he is only a second year player and did show a fair but at times early last year. Whatever happens this year he should get another year.

Hopefully McKee, Williams and Kinnear will never be seen in black and white stripes again. Walker I hope not to see again this year. He just isn't anywhere near ready.

It's time right now to demand performance and deal with non performance. All excuses are meaningless. We have made 2 grand finals with this list. Poor performance has to have consequences and those consequences have to be career threatening for players on the boarder line. If not we can never improve enough to be a dominant side and that is surely the aim.

We've won the last 4 out of 5.

Ha Ha Yay.

When i saw the Teams, i Was Rejoicing, jumping up and down and Just Doing Stupid stuff. That is because i was very happy with the changes to the side, although i would've gave Swanny a Go instead of Nixon. But it doesnt matter, finally some fresh faces i think i feel re-newed and re-freshed, How about you?

Ha Ha Nice one..

I Tip Collingwood to Win by 22 Points. Bulldogs will put up a Good Show but won't have the Depth and Artilary to get it done.

Hopefully all three Youngsters have a half-decent game and get a half-decent go at it (not Like Walker Last Week), Then tehy can have some sort of Confidence which will help the team.
