I thought since the AFL site went crappo and no longer shows team stats and the leaders, that some of us might to do it, to see how well (or bad) the players are playing.

I'll volunteer to keep the goal kicking tally up and running, but ideally need some people to help with disposals, marks and whatever else you can think of. Any takers?

Anyway, the goal kicking tally, up to and including round 5:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Troy Wilson (forward) - 20 goals, 4 behinds

2. Andrew Williams (half-forward) - 9 goals, 5 behinds

3. Phillip Matera (forward) - 9 goals, 3 behinds

4. David Wirrpunda (midfielder) - 6 goals, 4 behinds

5. Ben Cousins (midfielder) - 6 goals, 1 behind

6. Chris Judd (midfielder) - 6 goals, 1 behind

7. Andrew Embley (half-forward) - 5 goals, 3 behinds

8. Callum Chambers (midfielder) - 4 goals, 2 behinds

9. Daniel Kerr (midfielder) - 4 goals, 2 behinds

10. Michael Gardiner (ruckman/half-forward) - 4 goals, 2 behinds

11. Peter Matera (midfielder) - 4 goals, 1 behind

12. Travis Gaspar (half-forward) - 3 goals, 1 behind

13. Rowan Jones (midfielder) - 3 goals

14. Mark Merenda (half-forward/forward) - 1 goal, 3 behinds

15. Brent Tuckey (utility) - 1 goal, 2 behinds

16. Michael Braun (midfielder) - 1 goal, 1 behind

17. Chad Fletcher (midfielder) - 1 goal, 1 behind

18. Adam Hunter (defender) - 1 goal, 1 behind

19. David Haynes (half-forward) - 1 goal

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note, this will change a bit as I couldn't get who the point scorers were for rd 5. Will be updated as soon as I find out.

Interesting to see the number of midfielders scoring heavily. We have a few focal points in attack doing well and pretty much the rest of the goal kickers are midfielders.

Thats exactly what you would have seen in 1992 and 1994 when the Eagles were clearly the best in the side. A good wide range of goal kickers, not just relying on the fullforward like Wilo or I guess it was Suma in those days. More evidence that Woosha is setting this team up to be like the Eagles of the early to mid 1990's

Cheers Vis...whats wrong with the stupid AFL site...it has lost all the stats that are important like Tackles, Hard Ball Gets etc etc...very annoying.

Where did you get those goals stats from Vis? Just the Match Stats from each round...

Anyways i would do a category but im kept busy with the BFPOTY Award.

Thanks for that Mead, I will sign it....

Good to see a good spread of goalkickers, they still have the best scoring in the league and if Willow keeps this up he should pass his 40 total mark of last year by round 10 *S*

I'll put my hand up.

I haven't got time to go back and add up the 5 rounds we've already had, but if someone can get me an up to date list I'll keep it going each week.

I was thinking, to do the stats you really need HTML code which isn't supported by Bigfooty. Would Buzz be happy to create a stats section on his website and I would send him updated stats each week? The same would apply for other people doing the other stats? Thoughts Buzz?

THat was pretty much what I was going to do... I don't have my own full-on Eagles page any more (since the demise of Rivals), but I can easily whip up an Eagles stats page.

But if Buzz wants it as part of his page that's probably a good way to go.

I must have missed this thread first time around.

Vis & Scmods, you guys still interested in doing a stats page?
Sounds like a good idea to me, and I'd have no problem with creating a page for it on my site.

P.S. - Was I the only one who didn't know Scmods was Jeff Scott?
Good to see you here, Jeff. :)

Ah well Buzz, all you have to do now is just look at that site! Phew, means I can just look up the stats now instead of working them out! :D
