dawes? do we have enough space in the forward line to include dawes?

Wow, at some of those changes.

Chris Dawes, WTF?

Agree with Brown, Goldsack and Beams, but has Dawes done enough, or just earned a game through default.

Still No Medhurst, correct call after his woeful VFL effort 1st up.

Marty Clarke had to be dropped, and Wood got smashed in the ruck and did nothing around the ground.

Sidebottoms for Beams rotation policy continues.:thumbsu:

Overall, good selection, but still a little confused on Dawes.

**** yeh dawes is in:):):):) nah mate give him ago he will b good didak wont play foward anyways he will go in the middle **** clark got dropped whats up with that? and medhurst still not in geeze but im happy dawes is in time to shine dawes

I like this weeks changes, Clarke has been horribly out of form whilst i think it was time for Steele to go back to the 2's becuase he hasn't been doing much of late.

Dawes is a great inclusion, allows Trav to play higher up the ground which suits his style.

However Dawes in could mean Jack Anthony could be a late withdrawal.

Still no Medders is frustrating.

Well, glad some people were quick on it.

Im suprised that Dawes is in. Can only think that its just in case Anthony doesnt come up. But that cant be right.

We are very very tall. Reckon we could be a midfielder short.

Dawes..... wow... hope he plays well...

Very strange that you would get rid of a second ruck, Wood, coming up against Sandilands. I would have thought having 2 against him would be good. And before the teams are named there is a good chance our Pick #37 Zac Clarke will be Debut (young Ruckman) So We may go in with 2 and you guys just the 1?

Nah, we'll be right.

We always get beat in the ruck, and Cameron Wood's performance last week was just plain terrible.

We will use Leigh Brown as backup, at least he will get a little of the ball around the ground.

Sandlilands hitouts to advantage were poor before last week anyway, although they did improve against Geelong.

We have bought Dawes in to play the same role he plays in the VFL, kind of a Travis Cloke type role, with Cloke spending more time close to goal this week.

MM considers Leigh Brown to be a back-up ruckman.

I'm surprised by a couple of the changes, particulary Dawes' inclusion, but I don't necessarily think it's a bad change. I'm actually keen for Dawes to get more senior game time, the guy did play well in our winning final at AAMI last year including one of the best contested marks (as much as Ablett's mark-of-the-year was a mark, anyway) I've seen in a long time. Here's hoping he's a guy that continues to show improvement in better company.

Leroy the giant killer ;)

It'll be interesting to see what we do when you swing Sandy forward though.

I think JA will be a late change, either for Medhurst or Sidebottom. I can't see a playing a forward line consisting of the 3 talls.
Don't really see the point in bringing in Goldsack either, seems to me he hasn't done anything to demand a spot regardless of whether he is in or out. He just seems to be a token change every now and again.

Freo Team just out of interest, very young inexperienced team.

Will they stop naming Medhurst as an emergency if he is not fit enough to play stop naming as an emergency.

If he is fit enough then he should be in the bloody side

So which one of these blokes will be starring in black and white next year?

ps. bar about six of that lot, that line up is rancid.

Every week I think we're too tall and and every week we get taller.

This selection is plain awful.
We got SMASHED in the middle of the ground last week, we lose one of the best midfielders in the comp so we drop one tall only to bring in 2???? Ridiculous..

Clarke deserved to be dropped - he's been terrible. Cox should have been out this week as well.

2 Debut's for this game, which makes 9 for the year.

With Adam Campbell (FF) and Bradley (Ruck/Foward) Its fair to say Sandilands and Zac Clarke should be spending a fair amount of time up foward which will stretch your Defense. If they don't do that well... i don't see the point in bringing in Clarke :)

Chris Tarrant always gets named on paper at FF? But he will go Defense. Unless they swap him and McPharlin (who has played mainly FF this year) but thats highly unlikely.

So it will be Sandi/Clarke vs Frase/Brown on paper even without clarke Sandi is going to tear them a new one, but as you said its all about hit outs to advantage and clearences. :)

If we break even in the middle then we are a chance, but if we don't then you should win comfortably. Hopefully we can keep the pressure on like we did against Geelong.

There's room for 3 key forwards IMO.

Clarke and Sidebottom are good outs IMO, Clarke has been out of form and Rusty needs to go back. Although I thought he did very well against Sydney.

I don't understand this at all - contradictory don't you think?

If his form warrants selection which I believe it does (certainly moreso than Thomas, Cox) should we drop him just because he's young? He's handled himself very well this year I believe.

Interesting selections this week.

Perhaps N Brown is set to play a "run-with" role on Sandilands, to make him accountable for an opponent?? Would be an interesting tactic. Or Leroy and Nathan to "tag" him in tandem, to free Josh up to play his own game.

Dawes in is a good choice, insurance for Anthony. The forward line has started to look a little predictable and having a third tall target may strech the opposition and at the same time give the Pies more choices and make it harder for Tarrant to dictate play from the backline.

Clarke out for Goldsack is a no-brainer, as is Beams in for Sidebottom.

Wood unlucky to be dropped one week brought back the next, but MM doesnt give you many chances to mend your ways and Wood needs to get with the programme pretty quick smart.

Cant see Medhurst getting a run this week without sufficient match practice but he may be a late inclusion for Anthony.

Cox lucky to be saved but clearly Clarke was in worse form so he went out instead.
