AFL Club
Adelaide
B: Johncock, Rutten, Doughty
HB: Reilly, Davis, van Berlo
C: McLeod, Goodwin, Mackay
HF: Douglas, Stevens, Thompson
F: Porplyzia, Tippett, Walker
R: Maric, Edwards, Dangerfield
I/C: Griffin, Sloane, Petrenko, Armstrong
Emerg: Cook, Sellar, Schmidt

In: Johncock, Edwards
Out: Bock (adductor strain), Schmidt

Out goes Schmidt and Bock, in comes Johncock and Edwards. A tall and a utility for a small and a mid, should make our structure interesting! Still no Symes.

Presumably, Stevens covers for Bock, Johncock takes the defensive spot that Schmidt would have taken, and Edwards slots up forward.

Stevens will play on Pav for the majority of the game, no doubt about it. Ducks & drakes.

With Griff in the side now, I think we can afford to have 2 KPPs at each end and 1 swing man. Farily standard structure these days.

Interestingly the AFC website article lists Gunston on the emergency list, but his name is left off when the actual side is named.

I give Rutten first crack and give Davis or Stevens the order to peel off their man tp plug space to make up for the speed dif.

There's no REAL logical match up. I give Truck first crack with Stevo and Davis waiting.

Read somewhere that he pulled up sore after training the other day and was hobbling around.

That sucks, I was hoping of seeing him this week.

Just throwing this one out there, but how about Stiffy on Pav? We'd be giving away a fair bit of height there, but Stiffmeister is pretty good in the air himself, he'd be more able to follow Pav into the midfield (where he'd certainly be more damaging than Stevens, holding Pav more accountable), and he was our in form defender (before he got injured).

Just a thought, he couldn't do any worse than Stevens, and may even be better.

Not a bad thing that they aren't rushing Symes, we have seen what that has done to Knights. Another week in the SANFL can only be beneficial in the long run. I thought Armstrong would go out before Schimdt, but good to see the coaching staff stick with the younger players.:thumbsu:

I highly doubt it. Can't go with him in the air obviously, and would stuggle when he goes into the midfield. Would also be monstered in one on one contests, atleast Stevens will be able to compete in that area. I can see Reilly going to him when in the midfield.

Sloane and Pets are lucky Symes should be back, Stevens is another who better have a good game this week.

Stiffy will take Ballantyne, if not, Ballantyne will run amuck on whoever he plays on like all small fowards do against us when stiffy isnt playing or out of form.

Personally, I reckon Stiffy would provide as much contest in the air as Stevens would (at least in his current form), but you're right with 1-on-1, he would be at a pretty big disadvantage.

Interestingly, What makes you discount Stiffy, then suggest Reilly in the middle? Neither are tall, or particularly heavy, Reilly hasn't torn up as a tagger, and that's against smaller opponents...

Still, if Pav is killing us, I wouldn't mind seeing Stiffy given a shot.

Hmm, there is that. I forgot about Ballantyne...

Cook to come in for Edwards next week after a two week break, and Bock to return for...Stevens I reckon.

The only thing Reilly has over Stiffy in that regard, is the tank to be able to atleast compete with Pav in the middle. And Reilly is actually a bit taller than people think. But, to tell you the truth, we don't really have anyone in our side who is suitable for Pav (besides Bock), so he is going to have a day out anyway IMO.

This.

Truck on him in the D50, Davis on their worst forward with instructions to cover Pav. Stevens to take him if he moves up the ground.

Or put Walker on him, learning experience.

Dangerfield to follow Pavlich in the middle. Great experience and would do a ripper job imo.

EDIT: Having said that, Freo would be salivating at the opportunity to play Pav in a forward line without Bock.
