Hey Kenny - is it an 8 man bench, do you know? If it is, that means only 2 will be cut from this squad. Good to see a few young guys in there (Browne, Edgecumbe, Colreavy, Gilmore and our new young gun Dunn-good).

Hey Freo Fans whats your approach to the harry potter cup?

Will you try and win or not?

Essendon will try but are missing so players and we won't care if you lose.

Not sure it its true.

I think we'll give it a fair crack.

It's an 8 man bench, 2 will get cut from the above team. My bet is on Gilmore and Colreavy.

Just having a quick glance at Essendon's squad, the only players I can see missing of note are Solomon and Ramanauskas. Who else is missing? Hacks like Allan and Alvey don't count ;)

Those "hacks" are decent players when fit.

And to answer your question
Rama
Solly
McVeigh
Rioli
Cupido
Alvey
Allan
Haynes
Johns
Reynolds
Henno
Laycock
Hunt

How many hacks are you missing?

That's the 2nd post of this type I've seen around the place..."we're missing players, don't care about this comp... etc etc"

Are they scared? Are they setting themselves up incase they do lose? I don't understand. I don't care what the opposition thinks, only that I'd be happier when they respect and fear us... actually I'll be most happy when all other teams hate us because we always win!

I want Freo to win every game. I want Dunn, Colreavy and Cunningham to do as well as Bell, Cook and Hase. I want Polak to look like's he's played forward all his life.

But if it doesn't all come together in this match, then I won't be too worried. If it does come together and we then get sent to Brissy for the next game I won't be happy.

Interesting that none of Mundy, Murphy, Warren or Johnson got a game... must be happy with the more experienced talls.

This is my take - I don't presume to speak for all Freo-fans.

Every time Freo takes to the field I want them to win. I want them to win by a lot preferably.

Most times Freo take to the field, I give us at least a "reasonable chance" of winning. Sometimes I think... "easy", sometimes I think... "we should win this one", sometimes I think, "it'll be tough but I think we can do it", and only rarely do I think, "nah I don't reckon we can win this one". Very rarely. These days I think just about every game is winnable.

If we don't win, I at least hope that the guys had a fair crack, that they played their butts off and didn't just lie down. While it's disappointing to lose in these circumstances, at least you can be assured in that they gave it their best shot. If they lose because they lack spirit and heart, then I'm peeved, big time.

As for Friday - I rate it a 50/50. This sounds like a big fence-sit, but reasonably speaking, given the conditions in Darwin, the result is likely to come down to a "last man standing" thing. Whoever is least affected by the conditions will probably progress to the next round. I hope it's Freo - and then we go on to win the bloody thing - but if it's not I really won't be dissapointed. If it's not Freo, then I hope we don't just roll over as we have done the last two times we've played Essendon. If we do, that will seriously p1ss me off.

If the game were at Subi - I would expect us to win and would be disappointed with anything less. If it were anywhere else I would think, "this game is winnable - we can win and we should win." Given the "Darwin factor", as long as they give it a crack and play hard, it's all good. A win is a bonus.

The end.

When was the last time Allan fired? I know he's been injured but IMO his best is well past him. He played 1 good game last year (against your blokes iirc). Anyway, we'll see how he goes this year.

Anyway, Solomon, Ramanauskas, Rioli and Cupido are the only significant absentees from the list above in my opinion.

Have u W.A's not heard the Courtney Johns prophesis
;)

Its been humid as hell down in Perth for the last three days and that might bode well for our boys (although in Darwin you can add another 20-30 odd % humidity). I'll go out on a limb and say our boys should win it, hot weather or not, because Essendon seems to me to be sitting on the fence (although this is just judging by some of the fans).

And up yours to ch 9 and 10 for not airing the game on free to air!! Its just as well that I can go over to my old man's and watch it on foxtel, otherwise I'd be sending off some angry emails.

3 days ago i would have said that is a conservative estimate on the final margin. But after seeing the team sheeds picked with plenty of toe on the bench to run with freo and some experienced guys picked im going to have to say that you guys are........................

Seen today - West Coast Stre at Rebel Sports in Myaree

I was downing my subway in the car when I saw a dodgy looking character dressed in all black , hat , fdark glasses , run into the store I got out of the car to see if there was gonna be an aremed robbery. but NO , WCS stormed straight to the Freo Jumpers , grabbed one , ran to the till through the cash at the girl and then ran off with the jumper under his trenchcoat, he didnt even wait for the change . WCS a step in the right direction . Time to come clean

With my experience in Darwin at this time of year, swimming skills may be more appropriate.

Rioli not playing in front of his home crowd?. The crabs, turtles and dugong could be for a bad week.

He has a buttock injury aparently.

We'll still have a few obriginal players.

Seems Rolly needs some more padding on his rump.

Oboriginal, are they related to the Tiwi's or are they players originally from the Ord River area?.

dunno dude perhaps Rolly and Hayden can be merged together to form the ideal weight footballer
:)

Matty Lloyd kicking a bag of goals is the only way I can see Essendon winning.

Looking forward to seeing how Kepler Bradley and Jobe Watson go for the Dons. Also interested in seeing how Connolly puts his forward line together - he had some surprising things to say about Clive and Simmonds in todays paper.

Jobe is one big boy. Lacks his old mans pace though.

Kepler won't set the world alight but will do alright.

And at least if Clive's playing, essendon stand a chance :)
