JR on 5aa pretty much said the most likely scenario would be Burton for Edwards and no other changes.

Reid said there would probably be a minimum of changes, implying that there would probably only be the one change.

He was asked whether it would be Burton for Edwards and he did sort of indicate that it could well be Burton without going as far as to actually say that.

I would like to see Martin play and do a close checking job on Milne. Personally I think Milne is one of their most important players. I think he has one of the best goal for game ratios of any small forward in the game. If Riewoldt & Kosi are quite he always seems to pop up with a few and a few goal assists.

Also I'd like Johncock to be released off Milne because he plays his best footy when he can run out of defense with confidence. I'd much rather he play on a Gram, Eddy or Jones because although all good players they are not going to hurt you on the scoreboard as much as Milne.

Martin has the pace and agility to go with Milne and it would take the pressure off his disposal in his first game if he gets a shut down role.

It wont happen though.

Douglas played a very poor game before he was dropped and is no guarantee to perform at the required level, although he is capable of it. On the plus side his inclusion would be like for like in that he can play mid-field and play up forward which have been Edward's key roles. There would be no change in the structure of the team that has won the last 7 games.

On balance it'll probably be Burton who gets the nod, but don't altogether rule out the inclusion of Douglas to the accompaniment of a wailing and gnashing of teeth by one Drummond. :D

Wow what a ridiculous comment. 'like for like' ? 300 Game champion of the club, proven performer, champion in the real sense of the word in Edwards. Comparing him to a bloke who was underperforming last year and has gone backwards to this year the point he has been dropped? Seriously wow.

:confused::eek::rolleyes:

Rucci has come out on the back page if the Tiser this morning with Brett Comes Back and goes on to say Burton is assured of a recall. Does he have inside knowledge or is he just blowing smoke?

Would love to see Burton back in the side but he's a bit underdone for mine.

Maybe he's just being lazy. It's been widely suggested this would happen by the posters here - even lunacy & macca23 said that Reid himself said this would likely happen.

Brett Comes Back is a bit lazy too, but that'd be the sub-editor. Surely a player known as the Birdman could have had a better headline? Maybe something like Birdman now a Phoenix or something?

Ah, Lovers Come Back. Now that's a good album (Happy Chichester). Ah, being home from work with a shocking cold is fun.

I hope Burton comes back, will be great to see him back. Also, he MUST come back in order to build up to playing good AFL standard footy before the finals, will be an important player to us in September.

In my opinion Walker may play the rest of the year in the SANFL, unless something drastic happens to one of our current players. Anyone else agree?

Did you read what he said? Like for like, in relation to the roles they play in the team, not the quality of the player each of them is. You need to chill out.

Another one of your B grade posts.

The whole paragraph was

"Douglas played a very poor game before he was dropped and is no guarantee to perform at the required level, although he is capable of it. I've acknowledged that Douglas played poorly before he was dropped and is no guarantee to perform. The like for like relates to the position they play, not their ability.

Still, your inability to understand this is consistent with the quality of your other posts.:thumbsd:

Interesting to note in the 'Tiser, Martin and Burton both listed as "outs" for their respective SANFL sides, Davis and Douglas both named for their respective SANFL sides, so I'd be guessing Burton in and Martin as traveling emergency.

Yep. I don't think we will see Walker again this year unless there is an injury to one of our forwards, or unless Walker's form in all respects demands a recall.

I reckon he's a good chance to come back in but I think it will have to coincide with both good SANFL form from Walker and poor AFL form from somebody.

Burton is back.

B: Johncock, Rutten, Otten
HB: Goodwin, Bock, Reilly
C: Mackay, Thompson, van Berlo
HF: Knights, Stevens, McLeod
F: Porplyzia, Tippett, Sellar
R: Maric, Vince, Dangerfield
I/C (from) Doughty, Shirley, Symes, Burton.

Emergencies: Davis, Douglas, Martin
Out of 22: Edwards (hamstring)

Bar the birdman it's not the most talented bench you've ever seen. The starting 18 is exceptional though.

Yay the Birdman has officially returned. :thumbsu:

Hope he brings back what we've all been missing.

And for the Saints, Ball is out.

Make no mistake, Doughty isn't on the bench because he doesn't make the starting 18.

 That makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever!

Ha ha, yeah it does. The post it referred to questions the talent of the bench players. If I reword it like this...make no mistake, Dogga isn't on the bench because of lack of talent, and it would be wrong to think that that would be the reason he isn't in the starting 18.

Doughty is good enough, talented enough, and in good enough form to be chosen in the best 18, so just because his name appears on the bench to start the game, doesn't mean he is not talented enough. There would be rotation and match-up reasons for him not being in the starting 18.
