This is a Dockers home game isnt it, technically making it an "away fixture" for us? So technically (ie offically for the official ALF stats purposes to avoid the 20 game record by Sydney) if we win this weekend it breaks the away fixture drought??

Or am I just clutching at teh proverbial?

I think the media are referring to games away from Subiaco Oval (home ground). We should beat Freo..however I don't know what to expect these days......

Technically yes, but my guess is the media will just start talking about games lost actually "Away" from subiaco.

It'd be a nice technicality though :D

I think you make a very valid point. An "away" fixture is any fixture which is not a "home" game. This weekend's derby is not our home game. Part of the psychological disadvantage of any "away" fixture is having to play in front of a generally hostile crowd, the majority of which are supporting the opposition. This weekend Freo will have over 80% crowd support and that is an advantage for them as the "home" team - same as we have that same advantage when it is our "home" game. To suggest that a win this weekend does not end the "away" hoodoo is illogical and another example of the Melbourne media taking any opportunity to sink the boots into the West Australian teams who are both struggling at the moment.

It's kind of irrelevant. The issue is that we can't win away from Subi. Getting the chocolates in an 'away' derby isn't going to change that.

Exactly right. The issue is as much about the travel factor and the change in ground size as it is about playing in front of a majority of opposition supporters. The fact of the matter is psychologically, we are now going to find it harder and harder to win away from Subiaco as the losses continue to mount.

We can only hope that as our young brigade continue to mature as footballers and as people, that they will be able to break this duck and get the ball rolling away from Subi.

Clutching unfortunately.

We will be waiting until 2010 to break this horrible streak by the looks of things.

i dont think it will and i dont think we will win anyway they get Pav and Sandilands (there 2 best players) back and we still dont have Cox and Kerr (Our two best players)

wow it a lil surprising to me how pessimistic we are about saturday. (yes i know we havnt beat them in a while) but from what ive herd the eagles are getting pumped for this match. and we always talk derbys down but if we are kind of saying we are looking foreward to it etc etc i think its a sign that we really want to win this:thumbsu:
