Then again you must take into account the fact that:

1). The Arizona Stadium is in the middle of nowhere.
2). It is much easier to remove a rectangular field into the sun than an oval.
3). The Arizona field will only be used for 10 games per year for NFL.

I thought the Docklands was a great idea. Plenty of growing pains, but I think the surface is getting better.

Watching the Saints/Blues game last month at the G, blokes were slipping all over the place inside 50 at the City end. Rest of the field was fine. How do you explain that?

I just hope whoever missed the fact about the grass not being able to grow well in that stadium was fired.

There aren't that many options for the ground staff because of the limitations that have already been mentioned, does this mean we have to put up with it?

Is the surface going to get better, can it get better, because you would think after 5+ years of it being in use they would have nailed it on the head about how to properly maintain a good surface.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they come up with, 'wheeling' the turf out into the natural conditions is a good idea, although the Dome seems to lack any room outside the ground for this sort of thing and if the artificial turf is bad for the players then that rules it out......not too many options.

I see. It amazes me though, that it does appear to hold more than even 56,000 with three levels of seating all the way around, but still for 56,000 people to be all undercover is quite good.

It's not as bad as 2000 for sure. I remember the Kangaroos and Brisbane game in that year where the outer wing was mostly sand and players were falling over everytime the ball went there.

I would just like to add that yes the surface is an absolute disgrace.

The engineering genius that goes into constructing the stadium is magnificently complicated. Yet THEY, the elusive they, can't figure out how to get grass to grow.

Man on the moon, the silicon chip, WE MASTERED the harvesting and growing of crops thousands of years ago. It shouldn't be that hard.

I would be so bold as to suggest there are even people on Big Footy who know how to grow grass. Hydroponics and all that; you know what I mean.
And one of the major factors is heat.
Telstra Dome doesn't have it.
So their grass will always die.
