Mate...get ready for the deluge.

The bloke did some great things with the team in the first couple of years but in the end his gameplan didn't stack up. He builds it around having lots of quick free running players rather than blokes who win their own footy.

He left the club...wasn't sacked. Claimed he couldn't work in a club where resources were so tight and being forced to offload people he employed. Reality was he'd done his time and saw dollars elsewhere.

One of the games great self promoters....the self imposed media silence this pre-season must be killing him.

He thought he would get the job at Sydney, and so decided to resign the week before round 22. He then had the cheek to ask to coach in Round 22.

He certainly must have be doing something right in the early days, as he took us from 2nd last in 1996 (only Fitzroy below us) to one kick away from a GF.

The problem with Terry is he talks a good game but rarely delivers. He has had way too many chances and left our team much worse than when he came. Although I feel he is better with an older list but even then he has favourites if I'm not mistaken he was one of the few people who didn't think Gilbee could play.

The truth is we all love Terry. I personally think he should sign a 5 year extension with the Tigers.

To clear up the idea that he was sacked; he has a nick name with dog supporters, Terry Wallet. Money was the reason he left the west.
He went for the Sydney job which through the law of Karma he lost to Paul Roos.
It is amazing how easily someone great achivements at our club could sully their name so badly.

He was a smart coach but couldn't deliver his plans.

I remember running into Adam Contessa a couple of years back when he was delisted by Terry. He said to me Terry was the type of bloke that wanted his players to lick his boots. At the time i thought whats he on about seeing as though i was fairly young but now i understand.

Terry wants full control of his playing group and that is the correct way to go about it. Although the way he went/ still goes about it might be a problem.

He was spruikin that he wouldn't leave the club not long before he did. Not in the media though. Apparently he was really happy at the Dogs.

:rolleyes::mad:

Wallace is great at getting the best out of a poor list, but poor at building a list to begin with.

Would be a better coach under a free-agency sort of arrangement like most US professional sports. Under the Australian system where a player's team loyalty is expected & development of youngsters is required, he has some serious deficiancies.

Terry Wallace was the best coach the bulldogs have had in my lifetime. He took us to back to back prelims and consecutive finals series. He left because of the cut backs in expenditure in the football department and was honest and upfront about it. Unfortunately some people have never been able to accpet the fact that they took an axe to our football department and went even further after Wallace left by hiring a cheap as chips coach. If anyone is to blame for the years that followed Wallaces departure its probably the axe men that tried to run a successful football department on the budgetry equivalent of an oily rag.

Again back to back prelims and consecutive finals series. Helped players reinvent themselves when most clubs would have mad ethem retire. He also coached us to a win over an Essendon side that nearly made history were it not for his incredible strategies. Seriously the record speaks for itself. As for his time at Richmond well that record also speaks for itself.

Absolute nonsense!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wallace said, "I've taken this list as far as I can."

If he was really honest, he'd have said he left for pastures red & white!

Without doubt the best coach in my lifetime watching the dogs - early 80's until now.
Great media performer, he made sure the dogs got plenty of exposure.
Now the dogs are everyone's second team, but in 1997/98 he had the football world hating us through the ultra flood and quite a few incidents involving the Bulldog Mafia (Dimattina, Romero and Libba). Another incident where he sent the players out to rough up a young Gardiner was pretty much run of the mill under Wallace.
He seemed to be able to engineer a win when they didn't seem possible. Whereas the dogs now seem very one-dimensional, back then you could expect something different every week.

Let's be honest now.

Did wonders with our team in 97 & 98. As mentioned, can't build a list to save himself and his list building, along with the appointment of Rhode, have hurt the club and we're just starting to turn that around.

I personally hate the guy. But, if I was to be brutally honest with myself, I hate him so much because I loved him so much when he was at the dogs. I bought his dribble and saw results early on, so thought he was an absolutely awesome coach when he started with us - year of the dogs helped with that whole facade too.

At the end of the day, had we won a flag in 97 or 98, we'd all love him (and he'd remind everyone about it daily).

For richmond's sake though, I'd hope you get rid of him ASAP. He's doing nothing for you guys.

I could have coached the dogs with Grant in brownlow form, Johnno and Smith at their peak, West at Peak, Darcy. Wynd, Croft, Hudson etc etc. Terry took over a team with ready made players . Yes he did a good job but didn't get us a premiership. His problem was he had a plan A, and if that didn't work, there was no plan B.

i honestly think he will turn it around. give ur list to wallace now he'll have u guys in the top 8. the only thing i dont like about wallace is hes tryin to turn us into the bulldogs. obvisiously misses the joint.

No you couldn't have. The same team came 2nd last the year before.

The team was ripe to perform, true, but he does deserve some credit.

You have got to be joking!!!!

Every year he was our coach, except for the first, we went backwards on the ladder. He never had a Plan B and in fact if you must be honest HE COST US A FLAG by his inaction on Jarman until it was too late.

We are still trying to dig ourselves out of the small running players hole he buried us in.

Greatest self promoter the game has seen and he is geting everything he deserves at richmond.

Cant help but say your dead right mate. The Jarman bit will haunt us forever, and you didnt need to be einstein to see he was the danger man. I was 4 quarters pissed and still was screaming for him to make the change. Will never forgive him for that alone. The rest, agree, agree, agree also.

Two prelims and consecutive finals everything you say means nothing because the facts are there. You can try discredit him for one coaching decison in a prelim but thats just stupid when you consider how many coaching decisions may have got us to the prelim. Love how you try to somehow attribute our current situation to him its just comical. He left in 2002? What year in the future will Terry Wallace cease being responsible for the bulldogs shortcomings?

Lets all blame Terry Wallace for our current list and free Rodney Eade of any responsibility. What a joke.
