I honestly don't get this whole "it will save test cricket" line being trotted out. Here in AU, test cricket is fine. Our attendances hold up very well. Granted T20 gets massive numbers (both live and media) but that form of the game is a phenomenon that has resonated with the public. And no point going on about it cause it's hear to stay given the numbers it pulls. Just need to make sure our test side remains a very good test team and we will continue to support it. Attending test matches is more than just watching the game for most people. It is a social event...catch up with mates, country folk in town for the game, few beers, eye candy etc... I can't see any of that changing in the foreseeable future.
Around the world yeah I agree test match cricket is struggling. Even in India, test match cricket is poorly attended. But will night time tests fix that. I seriously doubt it.
This is being driven by the broadcasters and is not something the public want changed.
