AW is a gun, I see him as becoming a ryan griffen equivalent player when he returns.
Equivalent as in they both break lines, Walker will never have Griffens elite disposal.

If he plays to the full extent of his potential he will be better than that.......
AW has the full set, on paper...he just needs to put it all together.....

It's post's like these that make Walker so overated.

Why the hate for Walker? Late last year he was great for us and gave us good grunt, run and goal kicking nous.

Will be a great addition to our side. Cannot wait for his return...

I actually don't hate Walker, in fact I really hope he gets over the crippling shoulder injuries that have 'deflated' his career thus far, however I do feel that perhaps some fans are putting all their eggs in one basket, when it comes to Walker and the impact he'll have once he returns ...

I don't think really that he'll really hit his straps until next year and after (hopefully an injury free) pre-season again, I can imagine he'll be a bit proppy/cautious in his first few weeks back, to make sure he doesn't get any more tears in his shoulder ...

I still am not sure whether he can be 'secondary' goal kicking machine that some fans here expect him to be (admittedly I am aware Den Den played him in the wrong position for quite a few years), but his game last year against Port at the Dome was a cracker, and if he can re-produce that form on a consistent basis, then I'll be more enthuastic ...

Right now, I think it's more important for us to get Robert Warnock fit and firing and ready before the 'clutch' stretch before the finals, our ruck stocks are very promising, but very raw right now.

I don't believe that to be the case.
You disagree that on paper Walker seems like a player that could dominate?

On paper he has dodgy disposal, injury prone and has played only a few games over the past two years. No I dont think that on paper he can dominate or be a better player than Griffen.

I think at best he can be a solid contributor in our best 22 but won't be the superstar many on this board proclaim he will be.

Your last two points on why he couldn't dominate are rather void. ASSUMING his shoulder is right, Tex could still be one of our top 5 players.
Didn't he average around 20 disposals playing around HF in his brief stint last year? Not bad for someone returning from an injury that had them out for a while. The guy is dynamite and a joy to watch.

2003 1 Adam Cooney 2003 2 Andrew Walker 2003 3 Colin Sylvia 2003 4 Farren Ray 2003 5 Brock McLean 2003 6 Kepler Bradley 2003 7 Kane Tenace 2003 8 Raphael Clarke 2003 9 David Trotter 2003 10 Ryley Dunn

take out cooney who is a brownlow medalist now. I would pick walks over every one else, u talk about waiting for a high draft pick to develop look at colin sylvia. has played like 3 good games in his whole career. took farren ray to get the ass and he luckily got picked up by a club going places now he looks ok. kepler bradley hhas never done shit. kane tenace was always going to be the next big thing in geelong till they started winning and realised he was a dud.

LAY OFF WALKER u morons. if he had been a little more lucky with injuries he would be a 100+ gamer for us by now. its hard to shine when we we're getting flogged every week for 4 years. Let him have a run around with this team with some decent mids who can get a elite runner like him the ball.

Reading some of the comments u pathetic excuse for supporters post makes me ashamed that you supports this magnificent club.

not saying tex is a star just saying he IS a good player and we havent seen his best yet.

All the best 1AW.

Walker's my favourite player at the footy club and I'd be very reluctant to trade him for anyone. While the top 10 might have been weak, there were some absolute steals later in the draft.

33 - Jed Adcock
48 - Heath Shaw
53 - Daniel Jackson
55 - Sam Fisher (in hindsight, he'd go top 2)
61 - Michael Rischitelli
73 - Shane Tuck (top 10)

Unfortunately draft concessions really hurt that year - we ended up with Mott, Bowyer, Deluca, Bannister and Kenna - plus Stevens for nothing in the PSD.

The ironic thing is that Mott was even more useless and lazy then Ackland ..

I didn't mind Bowyer, played a few decent games for the club, Bannister has been a reasonable pickup, and Kenna was a goer but just not up to AFL standard ...

I wished we had him for hardness, would work well on our list, anyhow AW knockers, I feel the need for speed, add to that endurance and strength, bet youse were jumping out of your seats against WC in texas's debut? his played most of his 80 games down back. hopefully you'll get a better understanding of how it works when his breaking the lines with simmo and judd, totally unstoppable, and the way we are delivering into our forward line at the moment bombing it long works in texas's favour, Speed kills just remember that:D:thumbsu:
