While I didn't agree with all your selections or a couple of tricky tactics I thought you handled yourself with aplomb over the last four weeks.

You gave the players the chance to just play some footy, opened up the corridor again and gave some kids a run through the middle. You didn't try to sell us an audition and you committed yourself to Port's future as either an assistant or development coach.

You are the acceptable face of humility and a good football bloke.

Most importantly for me is that he hasn't tried to sell us an audition. The gains he made are the gains that we were all singing out for Primus to make this year. Develop first and foremost a gamestyle that can win games of footy (not reduce losing margins) and bring people back to watch us.

The comments about playing Wingard through the middle and to a lesser extent keeping the faith in Young across HF, are also valid.

However, the selection of the plodder/mediocre brigade and the refusal to play two rucks still annoys me and is reason alone why he shouldn't bother applying for the main job.

I don't give a **** what happens in the next few weeks so long as Gary Hocking remains at our club in some capacity because in the few years he has been with us, he has shown Port Adelaide gumption and devotion that is inspirational to the young fellas coming through and may I say, gives many of us faith in the future of the Port Adelaide Football Club.

This thread isn't about whether he's a dud or not, it's about his selfless performance to take over a caretaker job and do what he thought was the best thing for the club as a whole rather than using it as an audition for a senior role that he's not qualified for, unlike a certain someone in 2010.

Can't say I gained a lot of respect for him as a senior coach over the last 4 weeks, but I did gain some respect for him as a person. Good thread.
