Thanks for another quality nailbiting game fellas!

Full credit to your boys for fighting back from over 5 goals down and making it another 1 point thriller! :thumbsu:

I seriously though we had no chance today and had actually tipped you guys tonight and then when Embers and Coxxy were late withdrawals it made me think you would win it more for sure so i pretty much cant believe we won it without Cousins, Cox, Embers, Niko, Hansen and co.

Thanks for the game and the great rivalry continues!

All the best for the rest of the season! :D :thumbsu:

Agree. I'm the only Eagle supporter I know that tipped us after Cox and Embley fell out, but that's just 'cos if one-eyedness. You lot did awesome to bring it back like you did, like you always do...

Total thumbs up to you lot, it's just through luck that we won...

wow, what a game! You guys are BRILLIANT and I would not be surprised if we square off again in September.

Still, a long way to go yet, you'll have a big win next week I suspect.

Just want to say what a brilliant effort from the Swans to get it back to 1 pt after at 36pt half time deficit. I HATE playing you guys because of the STRESS but I am am amazed at the rivalry. I am ecstatic to win after all the **** we copped during the off season, but one day I would like to beat you guys by a decent margin :-)

I am very proud of the Eagles efforts tonite! I pray there is not a Swans v Eagles GF in 2007 cos I couldnt handle the pain, but if you guys get there and we dont, I will be wishing you all the best.

:-)

same goes with you guys. I have a huge amount of respect for the eagles. :thumbsu:

Congratulations to WC, and a brilliant effort by Sydney.
Another brilliant game of footy from two supurb football teams and another nailbiter.
Can't ask for more.

Top game Sydney. Your players combine so well to make a great team.

Its always an enjoyable match.

Great comeback, and good job to your boys, but in future can you stop coming back :D it realy scares the **** out of me.

Just one question what were your thoughts on the umpiring tonight ?

First up: Congratulations. I always hate the last week or two of the pre-season. So much crappola in the media even in a quiet off season. But if you ever want to see an example of why AR is great, just catch our two teams in action. :thumbsu:

As for the umpiring: got a bit too drunk to comment. :o Thought the Swans got the rough end a little bit early - didn't like the reversal of Hall's free for example. But once you've followed the Swans for a while you have to accept certain "issues" with the umpiring and learn to quietly move on. Can't speak for how the Eagles were treated, though.

The umpiring was all over the place. Can't say it favoured either team though. It was as if they'd have a quarter of blowing the whistle for everything, and then a quarter of putting the whistle away.

They seemed to award free kicks in the ruck all night just for the hell of it, again no team was advantaged by that - it's almost as if they took it in turns to dream up some kind of ruck infringements. I've always hated the free kicks they pull out in the ruck - you've got two gangly unco giants wrestling with each other, both holding, scragging and grappling, then they decide to pluck one random action out to penalise.

In short it was very inconsistent, but didn't influence the result at all

Well done to the Eagles - they deserved to win, it would've been a steal if we'd got over the line. Kerr & Judd (amongst others) were magnificent.

BUT I hope I will never hear again from an Eagles supporter about how the Swans flood! Woosha had the flood going all night & a spare man in defence for most of the night. I heard an Eagles supporter explaining to someone how it wasn't a flood, it was a "zone defence"! I almost asked him if he answered to "Gunnar Longshanks".

The first qr was appallingly over-umpired - I hope that was just the umps getting it out of their system for the new season and we can go back to having a marking or ruck contest without the umpires feeling obliged to interfere.

thanks for all the support fellas. Like Roosy said "it's a bit like groundhog day" Seems like someone cursed every swans v eagles game. just goes to show a good team is a team that functions well, regardless of the off field drama and everything else. looks like time got the better of us too. :( was thinking we had at least another minute to go and what if we didn't concede that last behind in those last few minutes....

Oh God...the dreaded "what-if". I hate the "what-if". With these miniscule margins against WC there have been so many "what-if's" over the last few years it's sent me half mental. :p

Hey all, thanks for the good sportsmanship fella's!

Was an entertaining match - the 2nd half anyways =P Swans didnt deserve to win. Was frustrating watching some of the silly things our boys did. Better team won on the day i guess, but you guys better pray Kerr keeps his nose clean cos he was quite bloody awsome the other nite! Good stuff from your youngsters too... very impressed with them!

The umpiring: i think its better off i keep my mouth shut!
