were do you think the 17th team should be created. i think tasmania love footy more than The gold coast. tasie also has alot more people to support 1 team

it aint going to happen but i think tasmania deserves a team where the gold coast are just getting one because the AFL dont want other sports to catch up.

realistically, you'd think the best crowds would come from tassie, at least initially. GC and west sydney are unknowns, whereas 12-18,000 (guessed at the figure) already show up to hawks games at york park, even though it seems like the same three opponents always going down there over and over again.
launceston/hobart (wherever a tas club might end up) might have a smaller population around than GC or WS but one that's more devoted to footy, and could easily have the best crowds of the three areas.

having said all that, it's pretty well concrete that the north is the AFL's priority for whatever reasons. rugby fans aren't going to show up to an AFL match just because it's there.

Agree with that. Heart says Tassie as no.17 but head says Gold Coast. The Gold Coast option is a good option, a rapidly growing city with a decent amount of support for AFL football. Though I am Tasmanian, the sooner the AFL get a team up there better and it really could be for the better of our code if they can succeed. West Sydney though, well...
